Looking back on the development of modern communication theory since it was introduced into China, especially the mainland, the author has made logic analysis to its development and changes in the mainland. Focusing on the development of modern communication theory in China, the academic dissertation aims to construct a new systematic theory of Chinese communication research and tries to put forward some basic academic advices for such theory, which seeks for comprehensiveness in content, systematization in structure and strictness in logic. In the past twenties years, the research of modern communication theory, as a newly social science in China, has been stepping on the gas, and has gained its position in China's academic forum. Great achievement has been made in this field with quantities of literatures about communication theory coming out and, as a result of this, more and more themes gone forth. To our satisfaction, more than 200 universities or institutes had set up departments of communication or journalism. All of these facts stimulate a felicitous situation for the systemic construction of the Chinese communication theory, however, we must be aware of that these is a long way to go.In the dissertation, the author analyzes theoretic breakthroughs in communication researches in China during the past years, such as control analysis, content analysis, effect analysis, audience analysis and so on. Here the authorfocuses on two subjects: one is how to construct a systematic theory of Chinese communication research, which includes Media analysis, Mutual-influential networks research, Localization research of communication, Research methodology about communication; The other is how to produce a basic subject status in the social sciences. There are 5 chapters in this dissertation, each one analyzing a focus issue and expecting to set forth some academic viewpoints of the author's, trying to "ignite" at least one "spark" in each chapter, and also to unite all of them as a whole. The first chapter: Analyzing general Media research. First of all, Media research is the most important part of the communication research, which can be called "the core of the communication research". Some experts believe the mass media is the bridge between the communicant and the audience, but the author argues that the mass media is the gap between the communicant and the audience at first. The mass media influences people by the "Creation of Media world". Media world is a world created by various symbols of media, and some people call it "symbol world", "invented world" or "pseudo environment". There are two differences between the real world and the media world: First, the former is a material world, and the latter is a spiritual one; Second, The media world can reflect, sometimes but not always, the real world, while most of the modem audience "see" the outside world by the mass media, considering the media world as a real world. The second chapter: Deeply and carefully analyzing and studying mutual-influential networks research. The author points out two kinds of mutual-influential networks: the internet and the mobile phone net. It is a common knowledge that the mutual-influential networks is a newly media of news communication also named by some people "the second media age". In contrast with traditional medium such as newspaper, magazine, radio and TV, the mutual-influential media has its specialties. First of all, the mutual-influential networks change the relations between the audience and the media. By networks, the audience can utilize the media to such a degree that he can become one of the communicants. Of course, the traditional communicants have the prerogative of gatekeepers, so the audience can't be equal in the position against the communicants. Second, the mutual-influential networks(especial the internet) have the specialties of communicating into all over the world without any control from any government or organization so that the invasion of information can be implemented directly and quickl...
