Distance education is a combination of modern information technology and traditional knowledge database. Remote control experiment is an important domain for distance education of control subject which have wide foreground.Based on the real-time laboratory and high-speed LAN of EE. College, this paper puts forward remote control system based on client/server/database pattern and develops a suit of program based on the structure. C/S pattern based on TCP protocols are used for the data-communication and assemble language program is embedded into the main process for plant sampling and control. Multi-thread modern is used for plant operation to avoid the hardware operation lag. Network database is used for experiment data saving and sharing. The paper describes the remote control system project and technology details which contains hardware interface, data-communication in the LAN, video server, database operation and so on. Many examples are gave to help readers comprehend the core of remote control.This thesis is organized as follows:Chapter 1 introduces the current status of remote control technology including virtual and actual plant and compares the differences of project between them. And, web pattern based on HTTP and C/S pattern based on TCP are compared detailed in the chapter.Chapter 2 introduces the development of Ethernet and the key technology during the course of development. Then Gigabit LAN is emphasized and the establishing scheme and interrelated equipment selecting is described.Chapter 3 firstly describes the TCP protocol and its encapsulated Winsock module and its application for data communication of remote control. User defined protocol is used for data exchanging between the client and the control server. Then, multi-thread technology for plant operation and data saving is introduced. In the end, video server application in the client form is described.Chapter 4 introduces several control methods used on the client including classical and intelligent control algorithm.Chapters describes why and how to use ms-sql server to realize data saving and sharing in the system. Some technology project is described in this chapter.Chapter 6 indicates some difficulties needed to be solved of the paper. And, a innovative project is proposed and the realization is expected for the subsequent researchers.
