ObjectiveThe theory of five movements six climatic changes is important part of Huangdi Neijing, and the six climatic changes is represented by the six meridians. The six meridians was seen everywhere in Neijing. The six meridians was used as titles and construction in Treaties on Fever Disease. Academy also think that the six meridians in Treaties on Fever Diseases originate in Neijing. But what relation between the theory of five movements six climatic changes and Six Channels in Treaties on Fever Diseases has not been reached consensus by most scholar. By using the art of divination of Chinese ancient philosophy, the author want to investigate and differentiate the relation between the theory of five movements six climatic changes and Six Channels in Treaties on Fever Diseases, reveal the internal essence of them, illuminate the origin of them, disclose what relation between zang-fu organ, meridians with them, and thus prove the the essence of six meridians.MethodThis research mainly collect Chinese medicine history document about the theory of five movements six climatic changes and the six meridians in Treaties on Fever Diseases, use collation and induction method, prove the origin of the theory of five movements six climatic changes. on the trail of the principle of heavenly stems changed into five movements and the principle of earthly branches changed into six meridians, The research prove the essence of the theory of five movements six climatic changes. Based on it, The research use the theory of symptom-root-midst qi to prove the essence of the six meridians in Treaties on Fever Diseases and mechanism of he diseases of six meridians.Result The treatise was divided into three parts.The first discoursed that the theory of correspondence between man and nature, the theory of Yinyang and Wuxing in Chinese ancient philosophy was the theoretical sources of five movements and six climatic changes. And they all came from the ontology, theory of evolution and epistemology of Chinese ancient philosophy. More over, these philosophy were inseparably connected with Taoism, Confucianism, number worship, myth and legendsThe second discoursed that the theory of five movements six climatic changes is one kind of art of divination. The number of five and six were recognized as the median number of heaven and earth. It was number worship of ancient people. Based on the theory of correspondence between man and nature, thought of round sky with square earth, ancient people use the number of five and six to acknowledge and forecast weather and human disease which help them know invarible to understand variance, get herbs and food abided by gasification of nature. The theory of five movements six climatic changes based on heavenly stems and earthly branches. As based on the myth of door of heaven and earth, the principle of heavenly stems changed into five movements came from arrangement of heavenly stems paired with five movements by the rule of inter-generation among five elements. And the principle of earthly branches changed into six meridians came from arrangement of earthly branches paired with six meridians by the rule of earth right-rotation. Through six meridians paired with six climatic changes, exterior-interior relationship of Taiyang-Shaoyin, Yangming-Taiyin and Shaoshang-Jueyin were formed correspond to coordination between water and fire, dryness and dampness, wind and fire which was the theory of symptom-root-midst qi. Six Channels sequence have two kinds,one is Taiyang-Yangming-Shaoyang-Taiyin-Shaoyin-Jueyin which represent the circle of heaven, the other is Shaoyang-Taiyang-Yangming--Taiyin-Shaoyin-jueyin which represent the combination, antagonism and uni ty of Yin-yang of life. Then, the opening, closing and pivoting of Six Channels and the complete recovery time of diseases of six meridians were explained with the second Six Channels sequence. In Treaties on Fever Diseases, logically, there was the pulse and symptoms firstly, then the diseases of six meridians, then the Six Channels in Treaties on Fever Diseases, lastly the syndrome differentiation of Six Channels which summarized by aftertime scholars. Therefore, the Six Channels in Treaties on Fever Diseases is different from the six climatic changes of five movements six climatic changes, and also different from Six Channels of Neijing which is different in same. Six climatic changes which have different function was inter-generated and inter-restricted. And the hyperactivity is harmful and shoud be restrained with each other. And the law of universe is the idea of round sky with square earth, the ontology is Dao-qi concept, the theory of evolution is Yin-yang and Wuxing. They all use the number of five and six to recognize climates and human body which have the thoughts of knowing invariable to unstand variance.
