The Food Safety History Based On The Media Reports

Since the reform and opening up, China’s economy and food industry achieved rapid growth, while at the same time, the food safety problems have been getting multiple and complex. Especially in recent years, food safety problems broke out more frequently. Media is the epitome of the times. Duirng the past thirty years, Media has been deeply involved in the food safety development. Media has been playing an important role in thirty-years of food safety history.This study tries to comb and research the reports about food safety problems since the reform and opening up, to get the general development history of food quality safety. Through combing media reporting of these major food safety accidents, analyzing the problems and defects existing in food safety development, this research aims to find out the relations between media and food safety development, the impacts media has on the food safety.Through the summarization of thirty years of food safety development from the media reports since the reform and opening up, we found that food safety problems haven’t been solved effectively and food safety incidents haven’t been obviously reduced. While instead, the food safety problems were getting more serious and the quantity of incidents were getting more. There are still many problems existed in food safety legislation and supervision system.The first chapter is mainly about the research background, significance and the research review concerning this topic.The second chapter is about the analysis of the social and economic background of the development of food safety and influences of the social and economic development in various periods on the food safety envolving. From the third to the fifth chapter, the contents conclude the history of food safety problems and reasons analyzing, food safety legislative evolution and supervision system development. The sixth chapter summarizes media’s development since 1978, and makes the study of the evolution characteristics of media reports about food safety and food safety problems reported by media. The seventh chapter is about the influences that media reports had on the food safety development, including positive aspects and negative ones. The eighth chapter is the summarization of achievements and deficiencies of food safety development and media supervision. The last chapter is about the conculusions and inspirations drawn from the thirty-year food safety developments for future references. T and outlines the close relationship between media and food safety.Based on the study, we found that media plays an important part during the food safety development since reforming and opening up, promoting the legislation systme, regulations construction, and supervision system perfection. On the other hand, meida may also have some limitations and disadvantages and could bring negative influences to food safety development. Therefore we should take measures to make full use of the media scientificly and effectively to exert its active effects and avoid negative influence.
