In the process of industrialization, urbanization and urban-rural integration, the contradiction between human and land is more prominent in the compound area of mine agriculture urban. We focused on analyzing the pattern evolution of the land use changes, then put forward the corresponding management measures in Pinglu District Shuozhou City in order to relieve the contradiction and promote sustainable development based on some theories and methods. The results can provide scientific evidence for reasonable land use and joint development in the compound area of mine agriculture urban. The results are following:(1) The compound area of mine agriculture urban is a community of resource, economy and socity which exists material circulation and energy flow in the process and development, which refers to mineral resources exploitation, processing and service with agricultural production and biological resources utilizaiton as the primary industries.(2) For the temporal and spatial distribution of land use types, farmland is the major land use type. The average values of proportion among open pit area, stripped area, dump site and industrial square are 1.0:1.4:1.7:1.2. The relationship between damaged area changes and production capacity promotion and reproduction expanding is obvious. The differences on change types of land use in different research phase are remarkable, showing an increasing trend. Besides the original farmland bidirectional conversion, there are two new types of conversion:farmland to construction land and farmland to damaged land. The sunny slope, altitude of 1300-1400m and slope less than 6°is the obvious area, especially the core open pit mining area. For the trend and status of land use type changes, the type of slow growth had gradually increased, and the bidirectional conversion were frequently, presents a balance situation.(3) The amount of damaged land has increased mainly came from cultivated land. With the advance of land reclamation, the damaged land gradually has been reclaimed for both farmland and forest land, not only forest land. From the gradient distribution of damaged farmland in future, the farmland mainly distributed in the buffer zone within a radius of 3km or less, and the East open pit mine will became the subject of farmland destruction, and damaged land will be 7597.41hm2 when arrive at the mining border.(4) The rural settlement area mainly distributes in the mining-agriculture overlapped area and rapid urban area. Its amount, proportion and degree of fragmentation are increasing, presents decentralized, complex of shape. It is s closely related to its rural residential land use zoning, where each area has different drivers and actors in each level. With buffer radius range from 0-1 km or 1-2km, the distribution of rural settlements has a gradually increasing tendency, and the radius of 6-7km and 7-8km become an important demarcation point, to study how surface mining influences rural settlements distribution. When the buffer radius is less than or equal to 8km, the area of rural settlement reduced with the radius buffer increasing.(5) Its expansion in space presents extended development based on the original, leaping development along the main traffic arteries, and the boundary shape alternative variety between regular and irregular. Urban land is mainly distributes in the direction of 120°,180°,210°, with radius within 1-1.5km. Its area decreased with the growth of buffer radius gradually, showing a tendency of increase before decrease with the direction value growth. During this process, the main transformation is farmland to construction land, and has occurred in various buffers, distributed in the peripheral direction of urban land ranging from 120°to 240°.(6) The development in compound area of mine agriculture urban should follow the concept of joint development, so that the whole land use system is in a state of equilibrium. Firstly, improve the unified planning of compound area of mine agriculture urban to make all related plans stay coordinated. Secondly, control the quantity and scale of construction land. Thirdly, reinforce land reclamation. Fourthly, urge the industrial transformation and upgrading. Fifthly, enhance the reform of mining land.
