PART IThe effect of bronchial artery infusion (BAI) therapy on microvascular density (MVD) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression of central bronchogenic carcinomaPurpose: To observe the effect of BAI therapy on tumor angiogenesis ofcentral bronchogenic carcinoma.Materials and methods: Twenty-two patients with central bronchogeniccarcinoma were undergone radical resection after BAI therapy. Thediagnosis in all patients was histologically confirmed by the examination offiberoptic bronchoscopy(FOB) before therapy. All samples obtained fromFOB biopsy and surgical excision were stained by immunohistochemicalmethod. MVD and VEGF protein expression in tumor tissue were measuredrespectively. The statistical analysis was performed by the software of SPSSfor windows 8.0.Results: MVD of tumor tissue before and after BAI therapy was 16.84±7.68and 21.85±6.16 respectively, the results were not statistically significant.TheVEGF expression,however,was significantly decreased after BAI therapy(p<0.0001).Conclusion: BAI therapy may inhibit the tumor angiogenesis of centralbronchogenic carcinoma.PART IIThe effect of BAI therapy on tumor angiogenesis of central...
