Study On The Implementation Of Micro-Hydropower Recources Development In The Republic Of Burundi

In view of general trend of international development of hydraulic technology and environment conservancy requirement, in conjunction with the features that BURUNDI is a very rich country in micro-hydropower resources, considering that all those resources are not yet developed, forest felling is becoming daily serious, the environment is worsening and the country remains in poor condition, this thesis proposed new viewpoints and made innovative studies on two software aspects and three hardware ones .The two software versions are prepared with the view that it is urgent for BURUNDI to work out plans to get rid of poverty and rejuvenate the country. In this thesis, a new strategy to implement construction of micro-hydropower projects in line with the conditions of the country has been put forth (Chapter 1-4), and the other software includes methods of implementation that has been proved feasible in practice (Chapter 6).The three proposals on hardware are the following:- Facing to the difficult point that the small rivers and brooks in BURUNDI have high sedimentcontent, the research on ion beam implantation to improve the anticorrosion performance into micro-turbines, has been done with good results .- Facing to the problem of multi-connections from generators to the users dwelling-places, exploration of parallel connection technology for power transmission has been tried with successful through experiments with the model project in BURUNDI.- In view to reduce pressure loss through diverting pipes for the generators when they are under high water head functioning (above 40m), the experiment for optimization of those pipes has also been done successfully. All these three items have definite innovation significance (Chapter 5).This thesis has basically solved major issues in implementing the micro-hydropower policy in BURUNDI, and has attracted attention and concern from the State Ministry of Water Conservancy, State Hydropower Company and many investors.Rural environment; Energy needs; Micro-hydropower; ion beam implantation;Environment conservancy...
