Overflow rockfill dam is the type of dam which has water retaining structure and waterrelease structure, the flood is discharged through the spillway face, the engineering quantity canbe saved, the project cost is reduced, and the construction is convenient. In combination with the Yemen's actual conditions, it is reasonable to adopt overflow concrete face rockfill dam. At present, there is only few research concerning the structural design theory of overflow concrete face rockfill dam. Although there is only few experiments were applied, the structural design of overflow concrete face rockfill dam is chosen as the purpose of the dissertation.The research about the section design, the treatment of spillway section and the anti-seepage system of overflow concrete face rockfill dam that is constructed on the rock foundation is performed. The main findings are as follows:1. The hydro-geological conditions, the hydro projects and the actual country's conditions in Yemen country are analyzed systematically for the first time. It is presented that overflow concrete face rockfill dam is suitable in Yemen country.2. The structural characteristics of overflow concrete face rockfill dam are analyzed totally, and the overflow section and sealing structure in the joint are studied, therefore, sealing structure is and the design of dam body should be achieved as well as the chosen material.3. The water surface line of spillway of overflow face dam is studied. However the water depth and the height of sidewall are determined with the water surface line. And the height of the wall of spillway.4. The theory of numerical analysis of overflow face rockfill dam is given systematically for the first time, including the global stability analysis, local stability analysis and the numerical simulation with FEM under the conditions of the downstream dynamical water pressure and overflow.5. The numerical simulation about Warzan one overflow concrete face Rockfill dam is done with FEM this is the first time for the application of numerical methods. FEM computer cods, to evaluate the characteristics of overflow Rockfill dam these results were comprehensively applied to the total body of the overflow Rockfill dam. Therefore, the over growth of this study can easily be established in Yemen or at any similar characteristic place, everywhere.
