The research of 3-D lithosphere structure has important theoretical meaning andpractical value for the mineral exploration, energy exploration and the prediction ofgeologic hazard. So it has been the focus of geology field. China has carried out a lotof work on the geophysical exploration,geological exploration and geochemicalexploration of the inner lithosphere since 1980s. A great deal of precious datareflecting the 3-D structure and deformation of the inner lithosphere material has beenacquired. Most of these data is saved by old disk or medium and it can not be usedfully. The Ministry of Land and Resources P.R.C carried out the geophysical databaseresearch plan of China lithosphere and built the sublibraries of deep seismic sounding,deep seismic reflection section,deep gravity,magnetic measurement,broad banddigital seismic measurement,MT and heat flow measurement in the ninth five-yearplan. But the geology data has features of spacial distribution and diversities. The earlydatabase system can only be used for the searches of simple geology attribute, whichcan not satisfy the scientific research of geologists. Geographic Information Systemsolves the problem because of its advantages. For the further research, the Ministry ofLand and Resources P.R.C carried out the database project in the China 3-DLithosphere Structure Plan. Besides supplementing the geophysical database acquiredin the ninth five-year plan, new databases, such as geochemistry database and deepbasin structure database are added. The professional data platform is also built on thebase of the GIS technology. These databases cover 13 specialties fields, including notonly the original exploration data but also the result data getting from research.Lithosphere is an integer. We can not do all-around research without sharing thedata. With the development of various sublibraies and the international network shareplatform, the specialties data of China 3-D lithosphere structure will develop towardsintegration,digitalization and web. The WebGIS which incorporates the spaceinformation system and Web technology, provides a new approach for the releasing,sharing, searching and analyzing geology data. Through the research of Web and GIStechnology, this paper realizes the incorporation of every professional data, theheterogeneous data integration and establishes the advanced Web service platform onthe base of WebGIS technology. The important research results are as follows:1. By analyzing the characteristics of the data and the sub-database of 13specialties contained in China 3-D lithosphere structures, and studying the concept ofthe relational database and the space data model,the author integrates variousprofessional attribute data and space data,distills the uniform data model, andestablishes the integrated database applied in the Web service.2. The author exploits the Web service platform of the B/S based on WebGIS,establishes the structure mode of Web, and realizes genuine "slim client application",that is, a client can search and analyze all 3-D lithosphere structures data withoutdownloading any software.3. Using the visualization operation method, this paper realizes the interactionprocess of network,extents the practicability of scientific data and reduces professionalknowledge and technical requirement for acquiring professional data. Two servicesystems are established in the paper: the attribute data service and space data service.Through the deep research of the system structure of exploitation instrumentArcIMS4.0 and the communication methods ArcXML, the author realizes Web servicefunction such as searching special data, querying based on space relation and attributecharacters, analyzing buffer and making thematic map.
