Service Construction And Application Of WebGIS Based On ArcIMS

With the rapid development of Internet and the application of AJAX technology and so on, WebGIS have entered a brand-new stage. The technology of WebGIS is developing toward opening, standardization and over-platform. And the application of WebGIS has gone deep into each field in society. Therefore, the big GIS software provider in worldwide also supply a lot of tools for developing WebGIS, in which ESRI's ArcIMS is the best one. The paper discusses and reserches on the tecnology of the construction of WebGIS based on ArcIMS.Firstly, the paper analyzes the theory of WebGIS from the definition, characteristic and construction model, introduces and analyzes the technology of middleware such as CGI, Servlet, Plug-in, ActiveX and JavaApplet. The paper also discusses the application in WebGIS about XML and AJAX and the developing process of WebGIS, so the base of theory has been established for constructing the application of WebGIS. Then, it analyzes the architecture and the operating principle of ArcIMS , and the developing process of ArcIMS application. Thirdly, it analyzes the technic and the method of developing the WebGIS application by using WebADF, and discusses the thought of realizing the subject map and the real-time monitoring by using WebADF, which has offered the techno-support for constructing the WebGIS application.In the end, the paper makes the monitoring system of the moving aims in sea come true through using the technic and the method of analyzing and studing above.
