With the continuous acceleration of the urbanization process in China, the transformation of villages in cities has always been an important part of the urbanization process. In this context, the transformation of villages in cities and the adaptation of residents have always been the focus of academia as well as the focus of government attention across the country. From the perspective of communication science, this thesis takes Chadaokou village,a village in the city, resettled in a different place after dismantlement in Chang'an district,Xi'an,Shaanxi province as an example. This thesis regards space as media and studies a series of transformations and appropriations of community space by residents in the process of transformation and resettlement in order to adapt to the new community living environment. How do they transform and create space? How do they use the created space to communicate? How do they gradually produce new forms of communication and new social relations as a basis? As for the transformation, does the space created carry the "place" they once owned? These issues are the focus of this thesis. The research is based on the theoretical perspective of space media, based on long-term participatory observations of the resettlement communities in Chadaokou village, combined with qualitative research methods such as in-depth interviews and focus groups. This thesis describes the transformation and creation of space by the resettled residents in the everyday practice of the community, including the movement of space, the redefinition and the reconstruction of space, etc.,and tries to show the "place" they constructed, and the feeling of the place.Meanwhile, this thesis also analyses and explores how they use space to convey information, construct meaning, and compile their relationships. The research found that based on the life experience of the place where they lived in the past, they constantly endow the space with new value and meaning through the reconstruction and use of the existing established community space, and then reconstruct the relationship between them, constructing their own place, and reshape the sense of place. It can be seen that the "sense of place" comes from people's everyday practice, that is,the transformation and appropriation of space media. At the same time, the "sense of place" is also presented as a result in people's new way of using space and the new and old intertwined network relationships.
