Chinese society is local,rural society is the root of Chinese society.Since the strategy of rural revitalization was put forward,the attention to rural society has also increased,especially the public space in the countryside is to a large extent on the edge of decay and decline,and the spiritual life of farmers needs almost nowhere to be placed.As a material entity space,rural commissary,with the material turn of communication research and the return of media space,naturally becomes a bottom-up spatial medium to deal with rural changes.Rural commissary is an endogenous space to create and choose farmers as the main body,which is manifested as a holistic way of life in rural areas,which can not be ignored for the development of rural society.In this paper,a small shop in a village of Datong City,Shanxi Province is selected as the research object,mainly combining oral history and field investigation methods,taking the material turn of media as the starting point,from the perspective of spatial media,To complete the rural small shop as a physical medium of material,practice and local three aspects of the investigation.It is found that the rural commissary as a space medium includes three levels of connotation,one is the material space medium,that is,the real existence of stable attributes.The distribution of the location of the small shop to its external environment and the information transmitted by the internal layout play a role in calling the public communication of the villagers and providing a material basis for the establishment of links between the villagers and between the villagers and the villages.The second is the practice of space media,that is,small shops as space owned by the attributes of production and social relations.On the basis of providing communication space,the villagers establish the relationship in the small shop through collective activities such as playing chess and playing cards,communication,so as to realize the space practice of small shops.The third is the local space media,that is,the small shop owned by the villagers to rely on its place.Villagers will form emotional attachment to it,and then maintain the long-term stability of the relationship between villagers.villagers' sense of security,identity and belonging in the commissary will further enhance identity and belonging to the rural community.In summary,this study understands the development and change of field small shops and its media process through oral history,and finds that rural small shops are in fact a window of rural society,and their changes also reflect the changes of rural society.And through the study of material,practice and local three-fold space media significance,it has completed its communication practice as space media and the production of cultural significance.
