A Study On Translation Strategies Of English Football News From The Perspective Of Text Functional Types

As the world's first sport,football promotes the exchange and integration of global culture.With the rapid development of the football industry in China,more and more people have begun to get involved in this field.With the advancement of science and technology,the speed of information transmission has been soarly accelerated,people's attention to English football news has gradually increased.As a type of culture,English football news play a role in undertaking the communication and dissemination of football culture around the world.Meanwhile,the Premier League has attracted the attention of most domestic fans with the characters of high intensity and fast pace.High-quality football news translation can not only break the barriers of cultural differences,but also allow fans around the world to communicate in a better way,also helps fans get the latest international football news around the world.The thesis also summarizes the difficulties in the translation of English football news,including translation of person names,translation of terminology and cultural background differences.This article takes the English news from the Premier League official website as the research object,combined with Christiane Nord's translation theory and guided by the "function plus loyalty" translation theory,perform translation analysis through four text functions which includes referential function,expressive function,appellative function and phatic function.And discusses translation guidelines and considerations for different types of text.Combined with documentary translation and instrumentary translation that put out by Nord,discusses the translation principle and summarizes different translation strategy that apply to different text.The thesis has found out that apart from the common solutions such as literal translation,free translation and supplementary translation,we can also use literal translation plus naturalized translation based on different type of texts.By the guidance of cohesion theory,this thesis also found out that the connective cutting method serves a significant effect on translating English football news with long and difficult sentences.Meanwhile,this thesis aims to summarize and generalize the translation methods,hoping to provide a tinge of ideas and references for research related to English football news translation.
