The Medicine Research Of Professor Li Jiakang In Treating Facial Paralysis Based On Data Mining

Objective To analyze the basic information,the rules of acupoints selection and Chinese Medicine usage of Professor Li Jiakang’s treatment of peripheral facial paralysis from different levels by data mining and statistical method.To evaluate the clinical effectiveness and summarize the experience of Professor Li Jiakang in treating facial paralysis objectively.Methods A structured electronic medical record templet was made to collect the information of patients with peripheral facial paralysis,who were diagnosed and treated by Professor Li Jiakang.The information included the basic condition,the symptoms,tongue manifestation,pulse manifestation,facial nerve function scores,TCM syndrome types,acupoints,Chinese medicine,etc.The extracted information was used to build a database and then analyzed the data.Data mining software like IBM SPSS 20.0,Weka and Gephi were used to analyze the frequency,clustering and association rules of the data.Complex network diagrams were drew for discovering core acupoints and medicines.The data summarized the rule of Professor Li Jiakang in the treatment of facial paralysis.Result 1.The basic information: There were 567 male patients(51.50%)and 534 female patients(48.50%).The patients included the old and the young.The average age of the patients was 49.39±22.94 years.There were 554 cases of facial paralysis on the left side(50.32%),546 cases(49.59%)on the right side,and only 1 case(0.09%)in bilateral.The duration of the disease was all over the acute stage,remission period,recovery period and sequelae phase.The average duration of the disease was 23.76±14.57 days.The onset time was mainly in the early spring,summer and autumn.The most common tongue was pale red with white fur.And the most common pulse was the floating pulse.The common TCM syndromes included wind-cold type(667 cases),wind-heat type(174 cases),blood-qi deficiency pattern(95 cases),wind assailing the collaterals type(53 cases),blood stasis syndrome(42 cases)and liver and kidney deficiency syndrome(37 cases).2.Clinical curative effect: The recovery rate was 30.16% and the total effective rate was 98.41%.There were significant differences between the patients’ facial function and mental health status before and after treatment.3.The rule of acupoint selection: The position of the acupoints was mainly on the face.And the acupoints were from the meridian of Yangming primarily.The specific acupoints were selected the points of rendezvous mainly.The core acupoints of treating facial paralysis were Hegu(LI4),Taiyang(EX-HN5),Yintang(EX-HN3),Dicang(ST4),Sibai(ST2),Juliao(ST3),Yuyao(EX-HN4),Zusanli(ST36),Shuigou(GV26),Yangbai(GB16),Jiache(ST6),Cuanzhu(BL2),Yingxiang(LI20),Baihui(GV20),Chengjiang(CV24),Xiaguan(ST7),Chengqi(ST1),and Sizhukong(TE23).Treatment according to syndrome differentiation was the major feature.In addition,Professor Li had commonly used couplet acupoints like Neiguan(PC6)and Shenmen(HT7);Xuehai(SP10)and Qihai(CV6);Shousanli(LI10)and Quchi(LI11);Sanjinjiao(SP6)and Qihai(CV6);Guanyuan(CV4)and Qihai(CV6);Sishencong(EX-HN1)and Baihui(GV20);Zusanli(ST36),Yingxiang(LI20),Qianzheng,Dicang(ST4),Hegu(LI4),Jiache(ST6)and Yangbai(GB16);Fengfu(GV16),Yifeng(TE17)and Fengchi(GB20).4.Medication Rule:The most widely used types of Chinese medicine which Professor Li used were exterior-releasing medicine,heat-clearing medicine and tonic medicine.In terms of four natures of drugs,the worm medicine was used mostly.The pungency was widely used of five flavors.The highest frequency was liver according to the channel tropism.The core prescription was Bombyx Batryticatu,Rhizoma Typhonii,Radix Sileris,Schizonepeta,Flos Lonicerae,Forsythia suspensa Vahl,and prepared Radix Glycyrrhizae.Different medicines were chosen according to different syndrome.Couplet medicines: Forsythia suspensa Vahl and Flos Lonicerae;Bombyx Batryticatus,Radix Sileris and Rhizoma Typhonii;rice sprout and malt;Ligusticum wallichii and Angelica sinensis;semen zizyphi spinosae and Poria cocos.Conclusion 1.Professor Li Jiakang has a significant effect on the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis.The treatment can obviously improve the patient’s facial function and mental health state.2.The clinical experience of Professor Li Jiakang in treating peripheral facial paralysis was eliminating pathogens to dredge the collaterals,promoting qi to activate blood,and regulating the muscle and meridian.Professor Li Jiakang selected the acupoints according to the position,channel,and the type of TCM syndrome.3.The treatment of peripheral facial paralysis by traditional Chinese medicine was removing pathogenic factor and dredging collaterals to make the face symmetrically.Professor Li Jiakang was adept in using Couplet medicines and chosing different medicines according to different syndrome.
