| Objective: In this study, the socio-demographic characteristics, daily living habits and nutrition literacy level of college students in Changchun were investigated and analyzed to understand the current situation of nutrition literacy among college students in Changchun and to explore the factors affecting the nutrition literacy level. This study will provide a reference basis for improving the nutrition literacy and health level of college students in China. Methods: In this study,an online questionnaire was administered to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in several colleges and universities in Changchun using a convenience sampling method. The questionnaire included three aspects:socio-demographic characteristics, daily living habits, and nutritional literacy level. For the investigation of nutritional literacy level, this study drew on the Core Entries on Nutritional Literacy for the General Population in China developed by Yaqin Zhang et al.and made adjustments on this basis to finalize the survey scale, and the final scale included three dimensions of basic knowledge and concepts, lifestyle and dietary behaviors, and basic skills. The final scale included basic knowledge and concepts, lifestyle and dietary behaviors, and basic skills. The scoring standard was based on the Likert 5-point scale, and the relative scoring method was used to convert the total nutrition literacy score and the scores of the three dimensions into percentages. The level of nutrition literacy was reflected by the scores, and the higher the score, the better the level of nutrition literacy.SPSS 21.0was used for statistical analysis. Results: The survey received a total of 1033 questionnaires,955 valid questionnaires, with an efficiency rate of 92.45%.The average score of nutrition literacy of college students in Changchun was 77.96±16.14;the average score of knowledge reserve was 85.92±20.32;the average score of lifestyle and eating behavior was 72.69±17.98;the average score of basic skills was 78.18±17.56.The differences in nutrition literacy scores between different grades, different majors, dietary tastes, whether they had received nutrition education, smoking status, whether they ate three meals a day on time, whether they were partial or picky eaters, whether their families paid attention to nutrition knowledge, whether their families would exchange information on food nutrition, whether they paid attention to vitamin supplementation in life, whether they paid attention to mineral supplementation in life, and whether they would pay attention to nutrition matching during meals were statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that profession, whether picky or partial eating, whether smoking, whether family members would exchange food nutrition information, whether they would pay attention to mineral supplementation in life, and whether they would pay attention to nutrition matching during meals were the influencing factors of nutrition literacy level.Conclusion:(1)The nutrition literacy score of Changchun college students is77.96±16.14.Although Changchun college students have a certain level of nutrition literacy, the scores of lifestyle and dietary behavior are lower than the scores of basic knowledge and concept and basic skills in three dimensions, suggesting that Changchun college students have the problem of "separation of knowledge and practice".(2)The proportion of underweight and overweight students among college students in Changchun is relatively high, and the BMI status needs to be improved.(3)Changchun college students have unhealthy lifestyles and unreasonable dietary behaviors, such as staying up late, spending too much time on static behaviors, picky eating, partial eating, irregular eating, and not paying attention to nutrition during meals.(4)The results of multi-factor analysis showed that the nutrition literacy level was higher among those who major in medical, did not picky eaters, did not partiality eaters, did not smoke, exchanged food and nutrition information among family members, paid attention to mineral supplementation in life, and paid attention to nutrition matching during meals. |
