Studies On The Situation Of Perception Of Clinical Nursing Teachers’ Caring Behaviors, Ability Of Humanistic Caring And Critical Thinking And Their Correlation Of Nursing Students

Objective:In order to provide a theoretical basis and useful reference for improving nursing students’ ability of humanistic caring and critical thinking, the investigations and analyses were conducted in understanding nursing students’ characteristics of perception of clinical nursing teachers’ caring behaviors, ability of humanistic caring and critical thinking; exploring the relationship between perception of clinical nursing teachers’ caring behaviors, humanistic caring ability and critical thinking.Methods:By stratified system sampling a total of 836 nursing students in clinical practice from 4 medical colleges in Jiangsu province, were survived by questionnaires. In this investigation, we handed out 836 questionnaires.791 questionnaires were returned and 765 were valid. The tools of survey included Perception of Clinical Nursing Teachers’ Caring Behavior Scale(PCTCBS), Humanistic Caring Ability of Nursing Undergraduates Assessment Scale(HCANUAS) and Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory-Chinese Version(CTDI-CV). SPSS software for windows version19.0 and AMOS software for windows version 21.0 were applied to analyze the data. Finally, structural equation modeling was applied to analyze their inherent correlations.Results:l.The total score of the PCTCBS is 3.05±0.55. Among them, the level of teaching methods is the maximum, while that of teachers’ features is the minimum.The overall level of perception of clinical nursing teachers’ caring behaviors of male nursing students is lower than that of female nursing students. The overall level of the perception of nursing students as a class leader is higher than that of nursing students as not a class leader. The overall level of the perception of nursing students in late stage of practice is higher than that of nursing students in early or middle stage of practice. The overall level of the perception of nursing students who are harmonious with family is higher than that of nursing students who are general or unharmonious with family. The overall level of the perception of nursing students from XZ university or YZ university is higher than that of nursing students from YWcollege or TWcollege. The differences stated above are statistically significant(P<0.01).2.The total score and scoring rate of the HCANUAS are 112.75±20.46 and 62.27%. Among them, the level of promoting emotional communication is the maximum, while that of supplying good environment is the minimum.The overall level of ability of humanistic caring of nursing students of male nursing students is lower than that of female nursing students. The overall level of the ability of nursing students from rural families is higher than that of nursing students from urban families. The overall level of the ability of nursing students as a class leader is higher than that of nursing students as not a class leader. The overall level of the ability of nursing students in late stage of practice is higher than that of nursing students in early or middle stage of practice. The overall level of the ability of nursing students with family’s supportive attitude towards nursing is higher than that of nursing students with family’s neutralizing or unsupportive attitude towards nursing. The overall level of the ability of nursing students who are harmonious with family is higher than that of nursing students who are general or unharmonious with family. The overall level of the ability of nursing students from XZ university or YZ university is higher than that of nursing students from YW college or TW college. The differences stated above are statistically significant(P<0.01).3.The score of the CTDI-CV is 283.39±25.84. Among them, the level of inquisitiveness and analyticity is the maximum, while that of systematicity and truth seeking is the minimum.The overall level of critical thinking of nursing students as only-children is lower than that of nursing students as not only-children. The overall level of critical thinking of nursing students as a class leader is higher than that of nursing students as not a class leader. The overall level of critical thinking of nursing students in late stage of practice is higher than that of nursing students in early or middle stage of practice. The overall level of critical thinking of nursing students from XZ university or YZ university is higher than that of nursing students from YW college or TW college. The differences stated above are statistically significant(P<0.05).4.Nursing students’ perception of clinical nursing teachers’ caring behaviors is significantly positive correlated with ability of humanistic caring and critical thinking(7=0.525,P<0.01;r=0.344,P<0.01); Nursing students’ ability of humanistic caring is significantly positive correlated with critical thinking(r=0.305, P<0.01).5.The structural model obtains a good fit. Nursing students’ ability of humanistic caring mediate between perception of clinical nursing teachers’caring behaviors and critical thinking, with the mediation effect of 0.153, and explain 36.2% of the total effect.Conclusions:1.The perception of clinical nursing teachers’ caring behaviors of nursing students belongs to above-the-medium level. And there are some differences of the perception of students among gender, whether as a class leader, practice stage, relationship with family, colleges of students coming from.2.The level of ability of humanistic caring of nursing students shows a medium level upper. And there are some differences of the ability of students among gender, family location, whether as a class leader, practice stage, family attitude towards nursing, the relationship with family and colleges of students coming from.3.The critical thinking of nursing students is positive. And there are some differences of the critical thinking of students among whether as only-children, whether as a class leader, practice stage, colleges of students coming from.4.The higher perception of clinical nursing teachers’ caring behaviors of nursing students is, the higher ability of humanistic caring of the students is, and the stronger critical thinking of the students is.5.Nursing students’ perception of clinical nursing teachers’ caring behaviors and humanistic caring ability have direct effects on critical thinking, however, perception of the teachers’ caring behaviors can indirectly affect critical thinking through the mediating role of humanistic caring ability.
