Objective: The first aid plays an important role in disaster relief. Reservists is one ofthe most important force in disaster relief, A successful disaster relief is depend on goodemergency rescue knowledge and skills. There is few research about reservists training onfirst aid knowledge and skills in disaster relief. It is an important and urgent mission toenhance the first aid knowledge and skills among reservists. In this study, we usecross-sectional study to do the first aid knowledge and skills survey among reservists inYunnan province, in hope to provide scientific basis to the emergency rescue in disasterrelief.Method: based on the self designed questionnaire, using the cluster sampling method,to extract6rescue companies for field investigations respectively.Result: The survey team issued1359questionnaires, regained1324, response rate was97.5%. among which validated questionnaires were1296, effective rate was97.9%. Theproportion of the no received first aid training in whole investigation participants is41.4%,which rise up to50%among logistical support crews, engineering technology crews andcollege graduates. The proportion of misjudging traumatic condition is82.3%, theproportion of insufficient first aid knowledge is57.6%, and more than90.0%participantscannot grasp the skills of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, stopping bleeding, dressing thewound, fracture fixation and the wounded transportation. The cognition rate of how torescue and increase safety in an emergency is about2/3. The highest cognition rate ofsaving others is soldiers and college graduates, the highest cognition rate of self rescue isadministrative staffs, the highest cognition rate of ensuring relatives and companions islogistical support screws, and the highest cognition rate of increasing chance of survival ismedical staffs. In the face of emergency rescue, about91.0%participants cannot carried outrescue operation validly, furthermore,26.2%college teachers chose to leave or pretendignorance.86.0%participants were willing to learn first aid knowledges, the rate of which rise up to95.2%and92.8%in college graduates and soldiers respectively.92.8%participants approved that it is essential to carry out first aid training in reserve forces. Inmedical staffs, college teachers, administrative crews and soldiers, the rate is more than95%.Conclusion: The training of first aid is deficiency, the majority of investigatedparticipants lack of first aid knowledges and skills, the cognition rate of importance of firstaid is a bit low. In the face of emergency rescue, the rate of inefficient first aid is high. Mostof participants are willing to learn first aid knowledge and approve to carry out first aidtraining.Tactics:1.Popularise the first aid knowledge is the efficient way to improve the rescueability.2. Reservists training is a efficient method to enhance the rescue ability.3.Enhancethe social responsibility is helpful to build the first aid ability. This study has a significantinfluence in enhancing and improving first aid in reserve forces.
