| After the reform and opening-up, there has been a significant development of politics, economy, culture and ideology in our country. Especially after the release of the view of "people oriented" consciousness of humanity in China’s sport news report has become prominent, and humanistic feelings has sank deep into the hearts of Chinese people. Consequently, sportsmanship has been carried forward while audiences’ affection need has been satisfied.This thesis is a research on consciousness of humanity in BTV-6’s coverage of Guangzhou Asian Games. Although "events report" and "live broadcast" are the focuses of sport news, it’s not contradictory to the humanistic requirements of the public. Sport news disseminators are inclined to value humanistic contents such as sport entertainment, sport culture and sportsmanship, which illustrates that they are consciously deepening their self-awareness of humanity step by step.This thesis firstly explains the basis and significance of the topic, reviews the related research and theory of domestic and foreign scholars and introduces the researching methods. Secondly, it discusses the connotation and the characteristics of consciousness of humanity. It also analyzes the cause, status and role of consciousness of humanity in television coverage of major sport events.Moreover, this thesis selects BTV news report of Guangzhou Asian Games as the object of study and makes an analysis of relevant statistics, news text and other forms of report in three news programs. It proposes that BTV Guangzhou Asian Games coverage has reflected consciousness of humanity in multi-levels and from different perspectives. Finally, according to the case study, the thesis points out the drawbacks and advantages of BTV Guangzhou Asian Games coverage.
