With the advent of information society, visual literacy is becoming one of the fundamental points in the 21st century. As a typical model of multimedia web visual literacy, Flash culture has made the great value of visual literacy be acknowledged by most audiences. The importance of reading and employing images is highly recognized by all in the process of appreciating flash works. Disseminating media are developing to a way of digitalization, visualization, and universalization, which is influencing the cultivation of mass visual literacy. Meanwhile, Flash culture disseminators are experiencing examination of visual literacy. They must be equipped with excellent visual literacy during the process of image meterial collection, information coding and visual resources reorganization. The tremendous value of visual literacy is revealed by the development of Flash cultue. This thesis analyzes Flash culture and points out that mass visual literacy should be cultivated through Flash education.The thesis begins with the introduction to the visual literacy cultivation of audiences by Flash media environment, analyzes the balance and unbalance of media environment and the Flash audiences centered characteristic in media environment, and discusses how to create media environment for visual literacy cultivation by employing publication, television and website. This thesis analyzes the self-cultivation of Flash culture disseminators and draws the conclusion that Flash educators should combine technology education with competence cultivation from the viewpoint of Flash culture disseminators. At last, it points out the cultivation strategy of social education.Based on theoratic conclusion drawn from first several chapters in the thesis, the author carries out the practical research of visual literacy cultivation by Flash, designs and develops a visual literacy optional course named Flash Visual Literacy Education among undergraduates which is a transformation from 'animation operating' to 'visual literacy'. At the same time, develops a plan for constructing a Website of visual literacy education named Soul Flash in expecting a further theory discussion and attempt in practice on an interacting platform of international web.
