Background: Depression is a common mental disorder. It is misery to people who is suffering it. And the risk of suicide is also high. So it is a major global public health and social problems. China's incidence of depression is about 3 percent to 5 percent, about 26 million people suffering from depression, but only in those patients with less than 10 percent of those receiving the relevant drug treatment. Patients' social function decreased significantly due to the impact of the disease. And there is a serious impact on their ability to work and quality of life. Depression patients need long-term medication, more drugs spend, and have heavy financial burden. And the treatment of depression medication with regard to the unreasonable situation, the heavier the financial burden on patients, but also a waste of the existing medical and health resources.Objective: 1. The purpose of the study is to explore the level of quality of life of depressive patients and to find the influential factors. It's effect was evaluated so as to provide evidence to make related measures to improve the quality of life of depression. 2. We analysis the cost-effectiveness of in the drug therapy of depressive patients so we can provide choose safe, effective and cheaper drug methods and we can utilize available medical resources reasonable.Methods: 150 depressions were assessed with short form 36 health survey questionnaire (SF-36), social support scale, Hamiliton depression scale and Hamiliton anxiety scale. And we assess the second time in two months. Fifty controls came from the same region with depressive groups. The study and control group matched in sex, age, educational level and occupations.Results: Social support in patients with depression and normal control group were significant difference in their apparent lack of social support. Gender-social support in patients with depression score comparison showed that male community to support the total score, the objective and subjective support and the use of support were less than women, but there was significant difference only in the use of support. And of different ages, education, occupation, source, and course of the disease in patients with depression of social support does not exist significant differences. The score of quality of life in depressive patients is lower significantly than that of normal controls before drug therapy. Depression patients in drug treatment and quality of life compared to the control group, in physiological functions, energy, social function and mental health of the four sub-item the difference was significant, and in the physiological functions, physical pain, general health and Emotional functions of the four sub-item the difference is not significant. Different gender, age, source, duration of depression compared with the quality of life there is no significant difference. And various education, vocational quality of life in patients with depression differences in the social function of sub-item on a significant difference, and the rest of the project does not exist significant.The depression scale score greater than average score after treatment than that of before treatment. Pharmacoeconomic evaluation results showed that each unit (C/E) of efficient Group A - fluoxetine group need to 6.14 yuan, B group -paroxetine group need to 6.98 yuan, C group - sertraline group need to 10.75 yuan , D group - citalopram group need to 7.08 yuan, E Group - fluvoxamine group need to 7.34 yuan. In the choice of five kinds of drug fluoxetine with the best cost-effectiveness, followed by paroxetine, citalopram and fluvoxamine, and finally the sertraline.Conclusions: The score of quality of life in depressive patients is lower significantly than that of normal controls before drug therapy. Drug therapy can prove quality of life in depressive patients. Age and the severity are important factors on quality of life in depression. Different drug have different effect, so we must pay close attention in clinical work.
