Purpose:Through analyse the hospital informatization development and function, the relationship between IT and BPR, the hospital traditional business process present status and bottle-neck, reengineering/improvement the medical treatment service process with IT, design a set of feasible BPR program which include hospital outpatient, hospitalization, pharmacy, examining, laboratory and nurse service. Based on the hospital BPR, transform the hospital organizational structure to process-oriented.Method:1. Literature search. Search for lots of relevant foreign and Chinese literatures on Business Process Reengineering (BPR), Information Technology, Organization transform and Business Process Management.2. Experts Consultation. Consulted professional men of hospital business process, IT experts and hospital governors on the core process of hospital, problems of present process and HIS3. Process analyses. Use Business Process Modeling Notation to diagram the most of medical treatment service process.4. System analyses. Analyses function and subsystem divide of Hospital Information System; build information flow chart.Results:1. Illuminated the relationship between hospital informatization and Business Process Reengineering. IT is the enabler and the assistance of BPR; BPR further advance the hospital informatization.2. Constructed a hospital business process system. Analysed the medical treatment service process, diagram the process overall structure and each subprocess.3. Designed a set of process improvement program based on IT which includes hospital outpatient, hospitalization, pharmacy, examining, laboratory and nurse service.4. Presented the hospital process-oriented organizational structure reengineeringprogram.Conclusion:1. The step of hospital informatization is very fast, but the huge investment doesn't improve the service quality and service level of hospital.2. The setting of traditional hospital business process focus on the convenience of management and faces the internal function, not facing the patient-oriented service target.3. Present IT can support hospital carry out BPR at multi-level. Only through BPR the function of HIS can fully bring into play.4. The direction in hospital organizational structure development is process-oriented. The process-oriented organization will meet the demands of patient better, solve the problems in"real-time", continuance improvement hospital performance, so that the hospital can posses future competition advantage.
