Clinical Research On Treatment Of Vascular Dementia With "Yuanluo Tongjing" Acupuncture Therapy

In the present study, the combination of "Yuanluo Tongjing" method and duxil was used as the theraphy. The only duxil was used for control group. Neuropsychology testing chart and the internationally recognized criteria for diagnosis and effectiveness were adoped to evaluate 66 cases of vascular dementia (VD)patients systematacially, objectively and allsidely . The result showed that after treatment, MMSE scores , HDS-R scores , ADL and the symptom scores of TCM increased in comparison with the control group(P<0. 05). The total effective rate was 85.29%. The content of SS and AVP in blood plasma was improved(P<0.01). The P300 peak latency of VD patients was shortened(P<0. 01), whereas the amplitude was heightened(P<0. 05). In the meantime, it also showed that the content of SS and AVP in blood plasma of VD patients was lower than that of healthy and the P300 peak latency was prolonged, both of which were correlated with the severity of cognitive impairment. Measuring the content of SS, AVP and event-related potential P300 can be used as an objective parameters to evaluate the cognitive function and the therapeutic effect.The above results show that by treated VD patients with the combination of "Yuanluo Tongjing" acupuncture method and duxil, the therapeutic effect is affirmative. This method can improve the intellectual level of VD patients, resume the activity of daily living modulate the content of SS and AVP in blood plasma, enhance the excitability of cerebral cortex, promote the ability of learning and memorizing to recover, especially for the dementia which is not serious.It is a active and effective theraphy.
