| Objective To investigate the clinical effect of scalp electric acupuncture on vascular dementia, and apply the evidence for clinic. Methods 90 patients were involved in this trial, and divided into 3 groups. Patients in control group were treated with Nimodipine, acupuncture group were treated with scalp electric acupuncture, and the last group were adding scalp electric acupuncture with Nimodipine. Every group measured MMSE & ADL-R measuring scale, and ERP test before treatment, and then rechecked 6 weeks later when treatment course were completed.Result This trial was well completed and the characteristics of 3 groups were comparable. The entire groups had effect on treating VD, but there were no significant differences between them. The 3 groups can improve activities daily living, and scalp electric acupuncture with Nimodipine had the tendency of better than other 2 groups. All of the group can evidently improve the ability of cognition, memory, operate & visual-space skill; control group and acupuncture-drug group had better effect on verbal ability. There were significant differences between 3 groups on memory ability, and scalp electric acupuncture group with Nimodipine was the best. The P300 test showed scalp electric acupuncture with Nimodipine can improve the function of cognition, judgment and location ability well; the latency of P3a, P3b had negative correlation with cognitive impairment degree. The CNV test indicated the area of A-S2' and A-C had significant negative correlation with cognitive impairment degree. 3 groups can also lessen mental load, reinforce attention, shorten the expectant time, and Nimodipine had better effect than other 2 groups.Conclusion Both of scalp electric acupuncture and scalp electric acupuncture with Nimodipine can effectively retrieve the cognition function and intelligence, but there were still the effect variability left to affir when the whole sample were completed. |
