Purpose: Vascular dementia(VD)is a kind of dementia syndromes caused by a series of factors of cerebral vascular which lead to the hurt of cerebral issuses.The disease incidence is increasing gradually,many medicines have not obviously curative effect,it is important for medical workers to explore new therapeutic method.Now acupuncture is favourablly recepted because it is easy to be operated and shows no side effect.In the article,we summed up the Pathogenic factors, Pathogenesis, types, neuropathology, treatments of VD in modern and traditional Chinese medicine,as well we discussed and prospected the unsettled questions. This research is done to dect the possible mechanism of the acupuncture treatment for VD.Sishenchong,Benshen,fengchi are selected as the main points,acupunctured with other body points according to syndrome difference.Nimotop is adapted tor control trail.Methed: 46 casee of VD had been divided into electroacupun-cture group and medicine group. Electroacupuncture group use Benshen, fengchi are selected as the main points. Medicine group adapt Duxil. Neuropsychology testing chart and the internationally recognized criteria for diagnosis and effectiveness were adoped to evaluate 68 cases of vascular dementia(VD)patients systematacially,objectively and allsidely .Then,we observe the change of the intelligence structur, the aspect of ADL,injure of nerve function, EEG and research the relationship of effect and the relative factors: patients with young age,short course,sex,education level,syndrometype of TCMand nature of diseases .Results: The treatment of VD have mang advantanges (1) TheraPeutic effect is affirmative.
