New-type urbanization in counties is an important part of China in the new development pattern,where counties connect urban and rural areas with a nexus role and promote the flow of factors.In recent years,the state has issued relevant documents to clarify the new positioning of counties in the new stage,to guide the development direction of counties in a categorical manner,to reasonably position their functions according to the actual situation,and to scientifically formulate the development path.Moreover,in the 14 th Five-Year Plan document,it is mentioned that the construction of city clusters and metropolitan areas should be relied on to speed up the linkage,coordination and characteristic development of large,medium and small cities and towns,and further make relevant arrangements to improve the quality of urbanization.In the process of promoting new-type urbanization with people as the core,this spatial carrier of the city circle provides opportunities for county development and is of strategic importance to the construction of new-type urbanization.Therefore,this paper provides an in-depth analysis of the new-type urbanization situation in the counties of the Wuhan urban area,which is important for promoting the integrated development of urban and rural areas.From the county perspective,this paper takes the surrounding counties of Wuhan,a large city,as the entry point,and selects 25 counties within Wuhan metropolitan area as the research objects.The index system is constructed by obtaining relevant data from the official government website,statistical yearbooks and work reports,and the new urbanization level of counties is measured by the entropy weight method,followed by spatial pattern analysis by Arc GIS,tree diagram by SPSS,and classification evaluation based on the characteristics of each county.Based on that,Pearson correlation analysis,spatial autocorrelation and spatial econometric models were used to explore the spatial effects of multi-dimensional factors of new-type urbanization in Wuhan metropolitan area counties.Finally,based on the results of the empirical analysis and the actual situation of the counties,we propose optimized countermeasures for the new-type urbanization of counties in Wuhan metropolitan area.Moreover,that can provide a reference for counties with similar background.From the analysis and research,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The level of new-type urbanization in counties in Wuhan metropolitan area shows a steady growth trend.During the study period,the ranking of new-type urbanization level of counties are characterized by "high,low,stable and medium fluctuation".In layman’s terms,the high and low levels’ counties change lightly in their rankings,while those in the middle level change distinctly.(2)There are obvious differences in the new-type urbanization levels of counties in Wuhan metropolitan area.Spatial distribution characteristics: The new-type urbanization level of counties show a spatial distribution pattern of "high in the southwest and low in the northeast" and "uneven and scattered development".Spatial evolution characteristics:the high-value area counties are still mainly distributed in the southwest,the middle-level areas are clustered and distributed in the southeast,and become scattered in the northwest,northeast and south;the low-value areas are clustered in the north at the beginning,and become clustered in the north and east.(3)The clustering of new-type urbanization levels in counties of Wuhan metropolitan area is divided into three echelons.From the dendrogram of cluster analysis,the counties with high-level of new-type urbanization are small in number;strong in resource endowment and fast in economic development level.The counties with medium-level of new-type urbanization have a large number of counties;different development speed and different geographical advantages.Counties with a low-level of new-type urbanization,few in number;limited by natural conditions,but with high potential.In the future,we can focus on promoting their new urbanization construction to narrow the development gap of counties within the urban area.(4)There is spatial correlation in the level of new-type urbanization in counties of Wuhan metropolitan area.On the whole,the changes of spatial agglomeration fluctuate weakly,and the overall phenomenon of high-high and low-low agglomeration is shown.The counties(cities)belonging to the H-H agglomeration area in the counties of the metropolitan area mainly include Qianjiang,Tianmen,Xiantao,Chibi,Jiayu,etc.The L-L agglomeration area mainly includes Xiaochang,Yunmeng,Tuanfeng,Yunmeng,Dawu,etc.(5)The spatial effects of multidimensional factors of new-type urbanization in counties of Wuhan metropolitan area are different.In terms of total effect,the spatial effect of urbanization level dimension factor is the largest,followed by infrastructure dimension factor,spatial pattern dimension factor,citizenship quality dimension factor,economic development dimension factor,and environment quality dimension factor,respectively.In terms of direct effects,the urbanization level dimension factor has the largest effect on the region,followed by the environment quality dimension factor and the spatial pattern dimension factor.In terms of indirect effects,in addition to the urbanization level dimension factor,the spillover effect of the infrastructure dimension factor is the most significant.This indicates that these dimensional factors not only influence the new urbanization of the region,but also radiate to the neighboring counties and have a positive effect on the development of their towns.The indirect spillover effect of the environment quality dimension factor is negative,indicating that pollution transfer and other phenomena will occur in counties in the process of new urbanization development;there is no spatial spillover effect of the citizenship quality and economic development dimension factors,indicating that the spatial effects of the citizenship degree and economic development of counties are more inclined to act directly on the region.(6)The development of new-type urbanization in counties in Wuhan metropolitan area has a diversified trend,and future optimized countermeasures need to be adapted to local conditions.As there are spatial differences in the development levels of new-type urbanization in counties,the urbanization stages of each county are also different,and each one has its own characteristics.Therefore,based on the above considerations,this paper proposes the following three specific countermeasures for the future development of new-type urbanization in counties in Wuhan metropolitan area based on the perspective of spatial pattern,development level differences,and different county types:1.scientific and reasonable planning to optimize the spatial pattern of counties;2.focusing on level differences to realize coordinated development of counties;3.diversified and classified guidance to promote the development of county characteristics.
