Over the past 40 years of reform and opening up,China’s economic development has attracted the attention of the world, jumping from a backward agricultural country to the world’s second largest economy. In 2021,China’s total GDP reached 112.63 trillion RMB,ranking second in the world, and its economic strength has been greatly improved. However,China’s economic growth in the past for a long period of time was mainly driven by factor input, and the extensive development of emphasizing quantity over quality, scale over efficiency has always been the main direction of economic work in the past.Today, economic development has begun to shift from high-speed growth to high-quality development, and the rise of the digital economy has brought opportunities for economic development to achieve this transformation. With its advantages of high penetration and high efficiency, the digital economy has extended the space for market economic activities and brought new impetus to high-quality economic development.Based on this, this paper aims to explore how the digital economy can promote the realization of high-quality economic development, and conduct in-depth research on this. This paper first sorts out the relevant research results of scholars at home and abroad, and reviews the connotation, measurement and implementation path of indicators.Secondly, this paper theoretically expounds the influence mechanism and spatial spillover effect of digital economy driving China’s highquality economic development, and builds a comprehensive evaluation index system for high-quality economic development based on the new development concept, and uses the entropy value method to calculate the digital economy development index and economic high-quality development index of 30 provinces and cities in China from 2011 to 2020.On this basis, further empirical analysis is carried out,and the two-way fixed model and spatial Dubin model are used to empirically analyze the path of digital economy affecting high-quality development, and then gradually analyze the impact of digital economy on the five sub-dimensions of China’s high-quality economic development, and further explore the regional heterogeneity of digital economy driving high-quality economic development in the east, central and western regions. The main conclusions drawn from the above research are:(1)From 2011 to 2020,the development level of China’s digital economy showed an upward trend, although the overall score was not very high, but the overall growth rate was considerable. At the same time, there is obvious regional heterogeneity in the development of the digital economy, and the level of digital economy in the eastern region is generally high, much higher than that in the central and western regions.followed by the central region, slightly higher than the western region;Due to the backwardness of digital technology and the incomplete digital infrastructure, the lowest level of digital economy is in the western region.(2)From 2011 to 2020,the overall level of high-quality economic development in China showed an upward trend, and the comprehensive score increased from 0.141 in 2011 to 0.243 in 2020,with an average growth rate of 6.23%,the growth rate was low,and the differences in high-quality economic development and changes in various regions were not obvious. The highest level is in the eastern region, followed by the central region and finally the western region.(3)The digital economy has an obvious role in promoting high-quality economic development.Among them, the central region is the most obvious, followed by the western region, and finally the eastern region; The five sub-dimensions of digital economy also show significant positive impact on high-quality economic development, among which the digital economy has the most significant driving force of innovation and open change in high-quality economic development, followed by coordination and sharing, and the least impact is the driving force of green change.Further analysis of the heterogeneity of the five sub-dimensions of the impact of digital economy on high-quality economic development shows that the digital economy in the eastern region can have a significant positive impact on innovation, coordination, green, openness and shared development, while the digital economy in the central region has a promoting role in coordinated, green and shared development, while the western region only shows a significant positive effect on innovation and development. From the test results of the spatial Durman model, the digital economy not only shows a significant positive effect on the high-quality economic development of the region, but also has a strong spatial spillover effect on the high-quality economic development of the surrounding areas.Based on the above conclusions, this paper puts forward the following three policy recommendations:(1)Increase investment in digital infrastructure and strengthen the effect of digital economy on enhancing high-quality development. The development of the digital economy requires high network bandwidth and infrastructure support, and the government should increase investment in digital infrastructure such as broadband and data centers.(2)Give play to the guiding role of the government and implement differentiated development policies. The government needs to consider the heterogeneity of the development level of digital economy between regions, provide targeted guidance and support for different regions, and maximize the potential of the digital economy in optimizing resource allocation and promoting high-quality economic development.(3)Strengthen regional interaction and coordination, and enhance the spatial spillover effect of the digital economy on high-quality economic development. The government needs to guide all regions to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in the digital economy, promote the full penetration and deepening of digitalization, and jointly promote the development of the digital economy. |
