According to the National Bureau of Statistics,China ’s total grain output in 2020 will be670 million tons,an increase of 0.99 % over 2019.Although China ’s total grain output has achieved steady progress,problems such as the need to improve the grain industry chain,the low-end locking of agricultural technology,and the low efficiency of agricultural production still threaten China ’s food security.At the same time,the external environment of agricultural production,such as the deterioration of agricultural resources and environment,and the weakening of rural surplus labor,also form constraints on the high-quality development of China’s grain,thus making the goal of grain production driven by grain production to grain TFP growth increasingly prominent.As an innovative way of modern agricultural management,agricultural service industry can effectively promote the deepening of the division of labor in the field of agricultural production,and become a reasonable path to enhance food TFP.Therefore,this paper takes the impact of the development level of agricultural service industry on grain TFP as the research object.Under the situation that China ’s grain production faces many challenges,clarifying the relationship between the two and the weak links in the process of improving grain TFP will help to cope with the uncertainty of the external environment with the certainty of domestic stable production and supply.Based on the panel data of 230 prefecture-level cities from 2008 to 2019,this paper uses DEA-SBM efficiency measurement model to measure the total factor productivity(TFP)of grain in each prefecture-level city,and tests the impact of the development level of agricultural service industry on grain TFP by constructing threshold model and spatial Durbin model.First,during the sample period,the development of agricultural service industry increased the urban grain TFP at the 1 % significance level,and there was a single threshold value.When the level of agricultural service industry crossed the threshold value,its promotion effect on grain TFP showed a trend from strong to weak.By dividing the whole sample into higher and lower samples,the results show that compared with the regions with higher development level of agricultural service industry,the moderately developed agricultural service industry has a stronger role in promoting the total factor productivity of grain.Second,there are significant differences in the impact of the development level of agricultural service industry on urban grain TFP in different regions.The development level of agricultural service industry can effectively promote the improvement of urban grain TFP in the central and western regions.The development level of agricultural service industry in the central region is no longer significant after reaching a certain level,while the development level of agricultural service industry in the western region always plays a role in promoting the improvement of urban grain TFP,but after crossing a single threshold value,the promotion effect will be weakened.Third,while the development of agricultural service industry improves the local grain TFP,it will also indirectly promote the improvement of grain TFP in neighboring areas,and the indirect promotion effect of the development level of agricultural service industry on grain TFP in neighboring areas is greater than the direct promotion effect of the development level of agricultural service industry on local grain TFP.Fourthly,the per capita grain planting scale plays a catalytic role in the relationship between the development level of agricultural service industry and the total factor productivity of grain,and the development of agricultural service industry plays a stronger role in promoting the total factor productivity of grain in areas with larger grain planting area.Based on the conclusion of the article,the following suggestions are put forward :(1)Strengthen guidance and management,and develop agricultural service industry scientifically;(2)Considering the characteristics of regional heterogeneity,give full play to the regional comparative advantage;(3)Adopt a reasonable compensation mechanism to improve the enthusiasm of grain farmers;(4)Deepen the land transfer policy to provide good external conditions for large-scale production;(5)Promote the deepening of division of labor and release service dividends.
