The rural revitalization strategy is one of the important ways for China’s high-quality development in the new era,and an important means to solve the contradictions of imbalanced and insufficient social development,as well as the large urban-rural gap in China.According to data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, from 2012 to 2019,the number of rural tourism receptions in China jumped from nearly 800 million to 3 billion, with an average annual growth rate of over 20%.Rural tourism,as an emerging industry in rural areas, plays a positive role in consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation, promoting rural economic development, and achieving increased income for farmers.Since the development of rural tourism, the per capita net income of farmers in Hutou Village has continued to rise, and the income of farmers has increased significantly. However, under the development model of rural tourism in Hutou Village, different farmers’ participation, degree of participation, and specific benefits are relatively vague.During the questionnaire survey, the author found that the commercial development of rural tourism in Hutou Village tends to be homogenized, with weak regional characteristics, which weakens the possibility and level of farmers’ benefits. This article is based on the development of rural tourism in Hutou Village,Jian’ou City, using questionnaire surveys and on-site research to obtain first-hand data, analyze the impact of rural tourism development on farmers’ income,in order to alleviate the contradiction between fairness and efficiency in rural tourism development, and provide suggestions and references for improving rural tourism development.Enrich the theoretical research on "efficiency and fairness" in the development of rural tourism, and provide suggestions and references for improving rural tourism development policies in Hutou Village,Jian’ou City and other areas with similar situations. To test the role of rural tourism development in increasing farmers’ income, this article analyzes the effect of rural tourism on promoting agricultural income in Hutou Village based on methods such as questionnaire survey, interview research, and data analysis. The article concludes through OLS regression analysis that rural tourism income has a significant positive correlation with the per capita net income of rural households at the 1% level, with a marginal impact effect of 36.9%.The model sets the interaction term between the descending order of farmers’ income and tourism income.Based on the estimated results of the interaction term, the coefficient is significantly positive, indicating that high-income groups gain more benefits in the development of rural tourism.Rural tourism not only promotes the growth of farmers’ income, but also expands the income gap between farmers in Hutou Village; The article uses the propensity score matching method(PSM)to analyze the influencing factors of farmers’ participation in rural tourism decision-making.The results show that factors such as age, education level, labor scale, number of migrant workers, and distance from core scenic areas affect whether farmers participate in rural tourism decision-making;The article further uses the Gini coefficient model to empirically conclude that even under the condition of all participating in rural tourism, the development of rural tourism still expands the income gap of farmers. The final conclusion of the article is as follows: Developing rural tourism has a positive effect on increasing farmers’ income; The income increase effect of rural tourism varies significantly among different farmers; The behavior of farmers participating in rural tourism is influenced by various factors such as age, education level, number of migrant workers, the age appropriate labor force of farmers’ families, and the distance between their home addresses and core scenic areas. In order to improve the quality of rural tourism development in Hutou Village, promote the growth of farmers’ income and narrow the income gap, this article proposes countermeasures and suggestions such as strengthen the main position of farmers, increase their protection and guidance, optimize the tourism development space, and improving income distribution system. |
