In the era of rising protectionism and the global spread of the epidemic,RCEP member countries,as important economies in the Asia-Pacific region, have the obligation of ensuring the global supply chain’s stability, promote regional trade integration, and inject new momentum into world development. The importance of logistics performance in facilitating regional economic integration cannot be overstated.Governments have boosted their investments in logistics infrastructure and are constantly improving it.Exploring the influence of logistics performance on international trade and figuring out how it works is critical for enhancing logistics and supporting high-quality regional trade development. This work employs a mix of qualitative and quantitative research methods to analyze the impact of logistics performance on the export ternary margin from two aspects: on the one hand, reducing logistics costs will help companies use additional income to expand their business, produce more and Products with higher technical content;on the other hand, the improvement of logistics level can reduce the export trade barriers of enterprises, enable more enterprises and products to enter the international market, and increase the variety and quantity of export products. With the help of the logistics performance index and HS-6-digit product trade data, this paper analyzes the economic and trade, ternary margin and logistics development status of RCEP countries. It is discovered that:(1)member nations are heavily reliant on intra-regional trade;(2)members The ternary marginal level of the country is uneven, and most member countries, especially developing countries, have a lot of room for improvement;(3)The logistics level of various countries is unbalanced. The data for RCEP nations is selected from 2007 to 2018,the extended gravity trade model and PPML(Poisson Pseudo-Maximum Likelihood Estimation)are used, and an empirical regression on RCEP countries is conducted. The results show that the improvement of logistics performance has a significant role in promoting the ternary margin of member countries’ export trade,of which the marginal effect of quantity is the most obvious, the marginal effect of expansion is in the middle, and the marginal effect of price is the worst. This research uses two methods in the robustness test, the first is to use a different method than the benchmark estimate;the second is to replace the core explanatory variables. The results reveals that the coefficients and signs obtained by the two methods are essentially consistent with the benchmark regression, indicating that the empirical results presented in this paper are robust. In the case of heterogeneity regression,Paper finds :(1)improving logistics infrastructure is the first priority to promote the growth of trade volume;(2)RCEP developed countries are less effective in expanding their margins by improving logistics performance, and the main improvement is the export scale. For developing countries in RCEP,improving logistics performance can significantly improve the expansion and quantity margins.(3)Manufacturing products are more affected by the logistics performance of importing countries than agricultural products. Finally, the paper puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions from the aspects of promoting domestic and foreign investment, improving the overall logistics and trade level in the region, strengthening coordination and cooperation, and comprehensively improving the logistics infrastructure and trade level. |
