Research On Sustainable Business Model Innovation Of Listed Companies And Policy Effects In China

As the global climate change and resource scarcity issues become increasingly prominent,sustainable development for businesses has become a consensus worldwide.China,as the world’s second-largest economy and largest developing country,is gradually realizing the importance of sustainable development.As an important part of the national economy,listed companies in China bear significant responsibility and mission,requiring Sustainable Business Model Innovation to promote their sustainable development.This article explores the Sustainable Business Model Innovation path and policy impact for listed companies in China from the perspective of Sustainable Business Model Innovation.Firstly,this article defines and elaborates on the concept and connotation of Sustainable Business Model Innovation based on a comprehensive review of relevant literature.Sustainable Business Model Innovation refers to the process in which companies seek a balance in terms of the economy,environment,and society by employing innovative business models to achieve sustainable development goals.The core idea is to incorporate the concept of sustainable development into the design of business models,thereby achieving an organic integration of economic benefits,environmental protection,and social responsibility.Secondly,by reviewing a large number of relevant literature and the annual reports of Chinese listed companies from 2017 to 2021,based on the Sustainable Business Model Innovation(SBMI)analysis framework summarized by Bocken,we have constructed an analysis framework and coding table for Sustainable Business Model Innovation that is in line with the actual development of China.We have utilized the Python programming language for automated data analysis,extracting key words related to sustainable business model innovation.We conducted a statistical analysis of the number of key words in the annual reports of each year from 2017 to 2021 and used content analysis to convert the coding results into numerical data using content analysis for further analysis and processing.Thirdly,when comparing the research on Sustainable Business Model Innovation for all listed companies on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and Shanghai Stock Exchange in China and all companies covered by the the S&P 500 Index,this article found that both China and the US have made some progress in Sustainable Business Model Innovation,but there are still some differences,especially in market size,policy support,cultural differences,etc.Fourthly,this article refers to the research findings of "Sustainable business model adoption among S&P 500 firms: A longitudinal content analysis study" to compare the results of Sustainable Business Model Innovation between all the companies covered by the S&P 500 index in the United States and all the listed companies on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and Shanghai Stock Exchange in China.The results show that both China and the United States have made certain progress in sustainable business model innovation.However,there are still some differences.China Sustainable Business Model Innovation places more emphasis on addressing mass demand,while the United States focuses more on technological innovation and exploration in frontier areas in terms of sustainable business model innovation.Finally,draw the research conclusion of this paper.The trend of China’s Sustainable Business Model Innovation is positive,and more and more enterprises are integrating the concept of sustainable development into their business model innovation,continuously advancing towards diversification,depth,and comprehensiveness,and promoting Sustainable Business Model Innovation from environmental,social,and organizational aspects,particularly in the environment and society.Based on this,this article puts forward some relevant policy suggestions,including that the government should strengthen policy guidance and support,regulatory departments should increase supervision,and enterprises should strengthen self-management and innovation capability enhancement measures to promote sustainable business model innovation research for listed companies in China.
