| Improving organizational resilience is the key to the survival and development of enterprises in an uncertain environment.In the era of digital economy,how and under what circumstances enterprise digital transformation can improve organizational resilience is a topic of common concern of academic research and enterprise practice.Since the new century,the characteristic situation of volatility,uncertainty,complexity and ambiguity has become increasingly prominent,and the enterprise management is facing a more severe realistic situation.Despite this,there are plenty of companies that survive and grow over the long term.The fundamental difference is that they possess this crucial ability of organizational resilience.At present,with the vigorous development of digital economy,the digitalization embedded in organizational structure and management can greatly improve the stability and resilience of organizations,which is closely related to the formation of organizational resilience.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to correctly grasp the internal relationship between digital transformation and organizational resilience.The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between digital transformation and organizational resilience from a long-term perspective,its influencing mechanism and regulatory factors,and to further conduct an extended test under the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in order to supplement the description of the relationship between the two.Based on the durability capability theory,principal-agent theory and dynamic capability theory of organizational resilience,this paper constructs A conceptual model based on the relationship between digital transformation and organizational resilience,and conducts an empirical study using the panel data of China’s Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2021.Firstly,the basic relationship between digital transformation and organizational resilience is studied.Secondly,from the perspectives of corporate governance,total factor productivity and enterprise innovation,the paper analyzes the mechanism of digital transformation affecting organizational resilience.Finally,the moderating effects of financial slack and managerial short-termism on the relationship between digital transformation and organizational resilience are explored,and the adaptive context of the relationship between digital transformation and organizational resilience is clarified.In addition,based on the real situation of the impact of COVID-19,the impact of digital transformation on organizational resilience was explored to supplement and support the relationship between digital transformation and organizational resilience from a longterm perspective.Based on the above research,the following conclusions are drawn: first,digital transformation has a significant positive impact on organizational toughness;Second,digital transformation can enhance organizational resilience by improving corporate governance level,total factor productivity and enterprise innovation ability.Corporate governance level,total factor productivity and enterprise innovation ability play a partial mediating role in the relationship between digital transformation and organizational resilience.Third,financial slack and manager myopia respectively strengthen and weaken the positive impact of digital transformation on organizational resilience.Fourth,digital transformation can mitigate the negative impact of COVID-19 on organizational resilience,and support the role of digital transformation in building organizational resilience in the long run.This paper broadens the research on the antecedent variables of organizational resilience,enriches the theoretical cognition of enterprise digital transformation,and has positive theoretical and practical implications. |
