In the context of digital technology, with the gradual increase in public attention to self health, more and more users are using the Internet to obtain health and medical information.Online health information not only meets users’ specific health information needs, but also brings disruptive changes to people’s lifestyles. However,in the face of the rapid growth of network health information and the increase of information complexity, users’ limited information processing and cognitive abilities cannot cope with the contradiction between the two, which makes users face more information overload problems, which leads to the occurrence of users’ health anxiety.Especially for migrant workers with low health literacy, due to their low ability to discern information, they are easily misled by vague health information and develop fear and anxiety. The emergence and exacerbation of health anxiety in the context of online information has become a common phenomenon. It is necessary to conduct targeted research on the online information search behavior of migrant workers and explore the impact of information search behavior on online health anxiety. This study takes migrant workers as the research object, starting with the psychological changes in the motivation, process, and results of migrant workers’ information search behavior, and conducts a systematic study of the theoretical model of the information search process for migrant workers with health anxiety, revealing the behavioral performance and formation path of online health anxiety in the health information environment, thereby proposing targeted strategies to guide and optimize user information search behavior.Firstly, based on semi structured interview materials,a model of information search process for migrant workers with online health anxiety was established using grounded theory.Secondly, combining the information search process model and the health belief model, with health belief and emotion as intermediary variables, and uncertainty tolerance, health information quality, psychological resilience, and illness of relatives and friends as moderators,a conceptual model of the impact mechanism of migrant workers’ health information search on online health anxiety was established. Then, referring to existing scales and combining the characteristics of health information search behavior,a corresponding questionnaire was designed and data was collected. Finally, structural equation model analysis was conducted using SPSS25.0 and Smart PLS3.0 to verify theoretical assumptions. The study found that the characteristics of health information search behavior of migrant workers’ users are: single health information demand, convenient information access channels, and fragmented search time. After data analysis,it is found that:(1)migrant workers prefer to search for health information through informal channels;(2)Health information search behavior has a significant positive impact on the level of online health anxiety, specifically manifested in search frequency and search strategy level;(3)Health information search behavior affects online health anxiety by influencing users’ health beliefs and emotions, and health belief subfactors’ perceived health risks and symptom self-assessment play a mediating role between health information search behavior and online health anxiety;(4)The quality of health information positively regulates the relationship between information search behavior and emotions. The mediating effect of health beliefs in the relationship between information search behavior and online health anxiety is regulated by the illness of relatives and friends and psychological resilience.Based on the research findings, management suggestions were proposed from three aspects:strengthening the audit of health information quality, enriching health information service methods, and strengthening mental health education.
