Study On The Employment Of Migrant Workers Based On Job Search Theory

Migrant workers serve as an important impetus to Chinese economy and social progress. The emergence of migrant workers in large numbers creates social wealth, increases income of farmers, and invigorates development both in urban and rural areas, making great contributions to China’s modernization.Migrant workers, as a whole, are a product of national conditions and will exist for a long time in china’s modernization process. Thus, migrant workers’ job issue is of vital importance in China’s economic development.Taking migrant workers as an object of study, this thesis will explain from macroscopic perspective the social background of migrant workers’ emergence and consequences it caused. Migrant workers’ means and costs of job search channels will be explored in this thesis and influencing factors will be summarized as well. We will put forward a scientific suggestion concerning migrant workers’ employment issue, which is of practical significance for sustainable development of society, economy and migrant workers.Combining the theories of information economics and labor economics, we base our research on the job search theory model, and analyze the influencing factors in migrant workers’ job search process. We combine the job search theory and the current issues concerning migrant workers’ employment. The major research method we adopt is what-if analysis on the job search theory model and migrant workers’ labor is seen as certain economic resources. Taking a microeconomic perspective, we do a research on the job search behavior of Chinese migrant workers. The thesis will mainly deal with the job search costs, influencing factors and a series of problems arising during the process of migrant workers’ job searching.This thesis consists of seven chapters.In Chapter One and Three, after analyzing the social background of migrant workers’ emergence and consequences it caused, we point out the problems to solve and the practical significance of the research.In Chapter Two and Four, we explain in great detail the origin and development of the job search theory in form of literature review. We give an introduction to the basic hypothesis and two basic model of the job search theory, its overseas development in particular. Also, the classic model of job search theory is analyzed in great detail.In Chapter Five, after an analysis of problems arising in migrant workers’ job searching, we do a research on the costs and behavior during their job searching process based on the job search theory.In Chapter Six, we base our result of this thesis and put forward some specific suggestions with regard to migrant workers’ job searching.Chapter Seven is a summary of the thesis and deficiencies of our research, and we will forecast migrant workers’ employment.
