Grain crops are the main crops in our country and the daily necessities of urban and rural residents, which can provide strong protection for national health.Chemical fertilizer and pesticide,as the most important means of production, play an important role in increasing crop production. In recent years,in the process of grain production, negative externalities such as water pollution, soil nutrient structure imbalance and grain quality decline caused by farmers’ irrational use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides gradually appear. Therefore, the government vigorously promotes the prevention and control of agricultural non-point source pollution and has achieved remarkable results. However, the irrational use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the process of grain production has not been completely eradicated, and the problem of pollution caused by excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has not been fundamentally solved. It is still a long way to go to lose weight and reduce drugs. To this end,the report to the 19 th CPC National Congress put forward the rural revitalization strategy, and the No.1 Central Document of 2018 made a comprehensive plan for the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, defined the goals and tasks for its implementation, and proposed that the rural revitalization should be guided by green ecology and promote the green and sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas.Grain growers are important micro-subjects of fertilizer and pesticide reduction application, which is an important agricultural production behavior to improve the current situation of agricultural non-point source pollution and ensure food security. In the face of the worsening of rural ecological environmental pollution,it is not only necessary to promote the implementation of fertilizer reduction, but more importantly to change the cognitive attitude and behavioral willingness of farmers to reduce the application of chemical fertilizer and pesticide. Therefore,it is of great significance to study the adoption rate of fertilizer reduction by farmers, which is composed of cognitive attitude, behavioral intention and actual behavior, for winning the battle against agricultural non-point source pollution, improving agricultural and rural ecological environment, improving food quality and promoting sustainable agricultural development.First of all, this study elaborated related concepts and cognitive behavior theories such as drug application reduction, and sorted out and summarized relevant research literature at home and abroad, which laid the foundation for this study.Secondly, the status quo of application reduction of fertilizer and the reasons for low adoption were analyzed. Then,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 517 farmers in 4 provinces, and the structural equation model was used to analyze the influence of social capital on the adoption rate of fertilizer reduction,as well as the mediating effect of knowledge stock between social capital and the adoption rate of fertilizer reduction.Fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis was used to explore the influence of different combinations of antecedent variables on the adoption of high-fertilizer drug reduction. Finally, the research results were summarized, and countermeasures and suggestions were put forward to improve the adoption of fertilizer reduction. The results showed that:(1)Social network, social trust, social participation and social norms had significant positive effects on the adoption rate of fertilizer reduction.(2)When knowledge stock was added to the model, social network, social trust and social participation could not only directly affect the adoption rate of fertilizer reduction, but also indirectly affect the adoption rate of fertilizer reduction through knowledge stock.Social norms directly affected the adoption rate of fertilizer reduction, and the mediating effect of knowledge stock between social norms and the adoption rate of fertilizer reduction was not significant.(3)Among the five a dependent variable of social network, social trust, social participation, social norms and knowledge stock, there was no necessary condition for the adoption rate of high-fertilizer drug application reduction by growers, that is,these condition variables could not independently explain the adoption rate of high-fertilizer drug application reduction by growers.(4)Adequacy analysis produced five ways for farmers to reduce the adoption of high fertilizer and pesticide application: social network * social participation* no social norms * knowledge stock;Social network * social trust * social participation; No social network * social participation * social norms * knowledge stock; No social network * social trust *social norms * knowledge stock; No social network * social trust * social participation * stock of knowledge.Among them, the fourth route had the highest coverage rate and the best explanation for the adoption rate of fertilizer and pesticide reduction.Based on the above conclusions, this study puts forward five countermeasures and suggestions to promote farmers’ innovative management:(1)enrich farmers’ social capital;(2)To enrich farmers’ knowledge stock of fertilizer and drug application reduction;(3)Enhance farmers’ awareness of green production;(4)Strengthen the propaganda of fertilizer application reduction technology;(5)Pay attention to the effect of economic incentives.
