Since the reform and opening up,with the acceleration of China’s industrialization and urbanization, the three rural issues have become increasingly prominent, and the agricultural production and operation model based on traditional small farmers has been unable to meet the urgent needs of China’s current economic and social development. As an important part of the main body of new agricultural management, family farms are an important supporting force for promoting large-scale land management and changing the mode of agricultural development.Family farms can not only maintain the basic status of family management, but also effectively improve agricultural production efficiency, ensure food security, and increase farmers’ income. They are also an important carrier to alleviate the contradiction between man and land and promote agricultural modernization. As the state increases policy support, the scale of development of family farms in my country has expanded rapidly and showed obvious spatial agglomeration.Land is an important means of production for the production and operation of family farms, and the land use efficiency of family farms directly determines the operating benefits of family farms. Therefore, does the spatial agglomeration of family farms affect farmland use efficiency? What is the mechanism of influence? How to improve farmland use efficiency in the process of family farm space agglomeration? These questions deserve deep thought.Hubei Province, located in the central region of my country,is an important main grain producing area, and a large number of family farms and excellent demonstration family farm industries have emerged.Taking family farms in Hubei Province as the research object, this paper investigates and collects 621 statistical data related to the production and operation of family farms in Hubei Province. To measure the spatial agglomeration degree of family farms, based on the theoretical analysis of the impact of family farm spatial agglomeration on farmland use efficiency in Hubei Province, the OLS model,DEA model and Tobit model were used to empirically analyze Hubei Province from the perspectives of single factor efficiency and total factor efficiency. The impact of the spatial agglomeration of family farms in the province on farmland use efficiency, after verifying the relevant research hypotheses,it is concluded that:(1)Through the analysis of the spatial agglomeration of family farms in Hubei Province,it is concluded that the overall development scale of family farms in Hubei Province is relatively large, but Due to the complex and diverse natural and geographical conditions of Hubei Province,as well as the different levels of agricultural economic development between regions, there is still a certain gap in the development of family farms between regions in Hubei Province. However, the agglomeration degree of county-level family farms in Hubei Province has obvious regional differences, and the individual differences are relatively large. The agglomeration degree of county-level family farms in Hubei Province is generally not high.(2)From a theoretical perspective,it is concluded that the spatial agglomeration development of family farms has a certain influence on the efficiency of agricultural land use.Theoretically, the higher the spatial agglomeration degree of family farms, the smaller the scale effect and the industrial structure effect on farmland use efficiency, and the correspondingly stronger technology effect and policy effect on farmland use efficiency. However, theoretical research cannot specifically analyze whether the overall farmland use efficiency of family farms has increased,so it needs to be further demonstrated through empirical analysis.(3)Through the single factor efficiency analysis of the spatial agglomeration of family farms in Hubei Province on farmland use efficiency,it is concluded that the higher the spatial agglomeration of family farms, the lower the farmland use efficiency in the corresponding area. The spatial agglomeration degree of family farms has a significant negative impact on the land use efficiency of family farms, and control variables such as farmers’ personal characteristics and farm management characteristics also have a significant impact on the land use efficiency of family farms as a whole.(4)After analyzing the total element efficiency of the spatial agglomeration of the demonstration family farms in Hubei Province on the agricultural land use efficiency,it can be seen that the spatial agglomeration degree of the demonstration family farms has a significant negative impact on the agricultural land use efficiency. The higher the spatial agglomeration of the demonstration family farms, the greater the impact on the farmland use efficiency of the family farms, and the lower the farmland use efficiency. Finally, this paper proposes countermeasures and suggestions to improve the efficiency of farmland use on family farms from the government and the family farm itself. From the perspective of the government:(1)Improve the operating standards of family farms;(2)Strengthen investment in family farms and expand financing channels for agriculture;(3)Adjust and optimize the industrial structure. From the family farm operation itself:(1)actively introduce professional and innovative talents;(2)build a characteristic agricultural brand;(3)vigorously cultivate new professional farmers, and promote the improvement of the economic development level of rural families.
