Study On The Operational Efficiency Of Family Farms And Its Influencing Factors In Tanghe County

With the continuous development of Chinese agriculture,the management mode of agriculture has mainly experienced the transformation from small farmers to the new agricultural management entities.As a type of new agriculture management,the number of family farms started and registered has increased in recent years.The development of the family farm has not only promoted chinese agriculture gradually towards high efficiency,intensification and rationalization,but also driven the transfer of surplus rural labor force.The scattered land planting mode is gradually changing into a continuous land planting mode,and the development of the family farm is conducive to improving the agricultural management efficiency.Tanghe County,as one of the traditional agricultural areas in Henan Province,has been continuously improving the grain output in recent years.This paper studies the operational efficiency of family farms in Tanghe County,aiming to analyze the reasons for the low operational efficiency of family farms in traditional agricultural areas,and put forward corresponding solutions.The results will be instructive to the agritural development of Tanghe County in the future.In order to improve the grain yield and farmers’ management efficiency of family farms in Tanghe County,this paper studies the influencing factors of the operational efficiency of family farms in Tanghe County.Based on the field survey data of 147 family farms,DEA evaluation model and Tobit regression model are respectively used to measure the efficiency of family farms and analyze the influencing factors in Tanghe County.DEA evaluation model mainly evaluates the efficiency of the four aspects of "material and service cost,labor input cost,land transfer cost and machinery input cost" of each family farm,and studies the yield per unit area of crops as the explained variable.Tobit regression model is mainly analyzed from the four aspects of farmers’ personal characteristics,management status,operating status and financial status,so as to explore the degree of influence of each variable on the operational efficiency of family farms.Results of DEA model analysis: The average comprehensive efficiency of family farm operation in Tanghe County is 0.561,the average technical efficiency is 0.719,and the average scale efficiency is 0.761.It indicates indicating that family farms in Tanghe County are generally at the development level of medium efficiency.The reasons for the low comprehensive efficiency value of family farms are mostly caused by technical efficiency,and the impact of scale efficiency is relatively small.The improvement of the management efficiency of family farms should start from the aspects of "changing the input ratio of various production factors in family farms,popularizing the use of farm machinery in family farms and improving the technical level of family farm workers".The results of Tobit model regression are as follows:whether the farmer has participated in training,the types of crops planted,whether the family farm has joined the cooperative,whether the family farm has its own agricultural machinery,whether the family farm employs workers,and the number of plots have a significant impact on the family farm.Whether the farmer has migrant work experience and the operating years of family farm also has an impact on the operational efficiency of family farm.The age of family farmers,whether they have migrant work experience and the operational years of family farms have relatively weak effects on the operating efficiency of family farms.According to the present situation analysis and empirical analysis of family farm in Tanghe County,four suggestions are put forward for the next development of family farm in Tanghe County.(1)Strengthen the training of new professional farmers;(2)Expand the scale of land planting and standardize the land transfer mechanism;(3)Encourage cooperation between family farms and cooperatives;(4)Increase financial support for family farms.This paper studies the factors affecting the management efficiency of family farms in Tanghe County,which can provide reference for the development of other similar family farms in Tanghe County.
