The Influence Of Development Level Of Digital Economy In RCEP Member Countries On The Efficiency Of China’s Export

The new round of technological revolution has promoted the vigorous development of the digital economy.With the advent of global digitization,the digital economy has become the key to promoting stable growth of the national economy.The 2019 coronavirus pandemic has amplified the potential of digital technology,providing solutions to socio-economic challenges and boosting the development of the digital economy through new ways of working and communicating across the region.The digital economy has reshaped the patterns and objects of trade in the 21 st century,thereby affecting trade efficiency.Therefore,governments have placed the digital economy at a prominent position in national development strategies to seize the commanding heights of the development of the digital economy.In today’s sluggish global economic recovery,digital development has become the key to promoting global economic recovery,as well as the key to promoting China’s trade efficiency.This paper first constructs an indicator system from three aspects of ICT access,ICT use and ICT skills and measure the development level of digital economy in RCEP member countries.The results show that the development levels of digital economy in RCEP member countries are very different.In 2021,the digital economy development level of RCEP member countries ranked in the following order: Japan,South Korea,Singapore,Australia,New Zealand,Malaysia,Brunei,Thailand,China,Vietnam,Indonesia,Cambodia,Philippines and Laos.The digital economy in China ranks 10 th.There is a huge gap in the development level of digital economy in ASEAN countries.Singapore has the highest level of digital economy development,while Cambodia,the Philippines,Laos and other countries have very low level of digital economy development.This paper adopts the stochastic frontier gravity model,brings the development level of digital economy into the model,and analyzes the impact of the development level of the digital economy on China’s export efficiency based on China’s export data to RCEP partner countries from 2010 to 2021.The empirical results show that the development of digital economy has improved China’s export efficiency.China’s export efficiency to Japan,South Korea and Singapore shows a downward trend,while its export efficiency to other countries shows an upward trend.The research results also show that the development level of digital economy in RCEP partner countries can promote the export efficiency of China’s primary products,intermediate products,and final products,and the promotion of export efficiency of primary products is more obvious;The development level of the digital economy in RCEP partner countries can promote the export efficiency of China’s capital intensive and labor intensive industries.In the end,according to the study,this paper submits proposals to promote the development level of digital economy in China and RCEP partner countries and improve the export efficiency of China to RCEP partner countries.
