| China’s economic growth since the reform and opening has been obvious to everyone but the past extensive pattern of economic growth has caused a range of serious problems such as the consumption of resources and pollution of the environment, which are hindering the sustainable development of the economy and society. With the accelerated development of urbanization and industrialization, there has been a growing focus on environmental issues, and traditional development methods are no longer suitable for the era of high-quality development. As a result, there is a need to introduce the green concept into industrial development and to minimize the consumption of natural resources and environmental pollution.Considering the total productivity of green factors under environmental constraints is an important way of achieving green transformation and highquality development in the long run.Industrial city integration is a new model of urban development that can promote the co-ordinated development of cities and sectors, enhancing the competitiveness of cities and industries,as well as bringing about urban transformation, modernisation and sustainable development. Therefore,it is of great importance to study in depth the mechanism of the impact of industry city integration on the total productivity of green factors. This article takes 26 regions of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration as research samples to explore the impact of industry city integration on green total factor productivity. The aim of this paper is to carefully comb the relevant literature on industry city integration and total green factor productivity at home and abroad,to analyse their connotations, rates of measurement and pathways of impact,to define their concepts on the basis of relevant theoretical foundations, and analyzes the mechanism for the impact of city-industry integration on total green factor productivity under conditions of rapid technological development. In this paper,we adopt an econometric model to investigate the threshold effect of industrial city integration on green factor productivity and technological innovation. Finally, the results of this study are presented in the table, and combined with the analysis, provide policy recommendations for the improvement of the total green factor productivity of urban agglomerations in the Yangtze River Delta region. The conclusions of this article are as follows:(1)Overall,the development trend of the level of industrial city integration of the urban agglomeration of the Yangtze River Delta is good and stable, and the total green essential productivity is at a phase of growth that is slowly fluctuating.(2)The level of industrial city integration significantly enhances green total factor productivity.Different types of cities have different impacts on city-industry integration. For cities without resources, the level of integration of industrial cities can significantly improve total green factor productivity, whereas cities with resources do not have a significant improvement effect.(3)It is found that when the level of science, technology and innovation is low,the effect of the level of integration of science, technology and innovation on green total factor productivity is not obvious. After the level of science, technology and innovation reaches a certain extent, the improvement effect of the integration level of production cities on green total factor productivity begins to appear, and the improvement effect is obviously enhanced, that is,the threshold effect of science, technology and innovation level exists. In conclusion,on the basis of the research findings, this paper advances the following policy proposals: first,to further improve the integration policy of production cities,to construct the long-term mechanism of development of integration of production cities, and second,to implement the policy of integration of production cities according to local conditions; The third aim is to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the industrial structure and to strengthen the capacity-building of science and technology innovation;Fourthly,it promotes green technological innovation and constructs a high-quality development model that promotes total green factor productivity. |
