| The "Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement"(RCEP)has strengthened economic cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, particularly in agriculture.Due to their favorable geographical location, climate, and abundant agricultural resources,Southeast Asian countries place great importance on developing their agricultural product market. As a result, the potential for agricultural product trade between China and Southeast Asian countries is promising, and it is essential to seize opportunities. However,China’s agricultural product export scale is relatively small, and there is a limited range of products, which hampers export growth.Given the trend towards trade liberalization, trade facilitation has become a crucial issue for countries worldwide. The World Trade Organization, the World Bank, and several governments are dedicated to enhancing trade facilitation in order to foster trade development. The aim of trade facilitation is to streamline the trading process and increase the effectiveness of international trade by means of government policies and associated technologies, thereby reducing trade costs.Improving trade facilitation can help reduce the barriers for exporting agricultural products and increase export volume, while also lowering trade costs, reducing export consumption, and promoting trade development. This research paper focuses on China’s agricultural product export trade and investigates the topic from both theoretical and practical perspectives.Firstly, the study reviews the existing research on trade facilitation domestically and internationally to provide a comprehensive understanding of its definition, theoretical foundation, index system, and empirical results.Secondly, the paper analyzes the scale, market distribution, and product types of China’s agricultural exports to ASEAN countries to develop a trade facilitation index system. The principal component analysis method is used to assign weights to each measurement index, and the data obtained is indexed to measure and analyze the development level of trade facilitation in ASEAN countries.Based on this analysis, the paper empirically tests the impact of the trade facilitation degree of ASEAN member states on China’s agricultural product exports using a fixed effect model.Furthermore,The study investigates the precise influence of trade facilitation on the export of diverse agricultural products. The empirical findings suggest that enhancing the degree of trade facilitation can enhance China’s trade in agricultural products for export, increase market share, improve export product structure, and promote diversification.Among the various trade facilitation indicators,e-commerce level, infrastructure, and customs efficiency in ASEAN countries have the most significant promotion effect.Additionally, the improvement of trade facilitation has the most significant impact on the export of the second and third types of agricultural products,as well as the fourth type of agricultural products. Finally, according to the results of empirical analysis, relevant policy recommendations are put forward to improve the trade facilitation level of ASEAN countries and improve the agricultural product export trade environment and relationship between China and ASEAN countries. |
