Nowadays,the global manufacturing pattern is facing a new round of reshuffle.Developed countries adapt to the global changes by implementing the "reindustrialization" strategy,and developing countries are also accelerating the development of the manufacturing industry.China’s manufacturing industry is trapped in the dilemma of "two-way squeeze".In order to seize the commanding heights of the new round of competition,China’s manufacturing industry must adopt the innovation driven development strategy.The innovation driving force as the endogenous source of manufacturing innovation and the core foundation of implementing innovation driven development strategy,but also the key force for the transformation of old and new growth drivers.How to measure the innovation driving force in Chinese manufacturing industry,reduce the gap between our manufacturing industry innovation driven development,promote the coordinated development of manufacturing industry innovation driven regions.It has become an important topic in our country transform to a manufacturing power country and construction of innovative country.In this paper,the connotation and characteristics of manufacturing innovation driving force are clarified through in-depth research on relevant literature on innovation driven development in manufacturing industry,and on this basis,an evaluation index system is constructed.Based on panel data of 31 provinces from 2011 to 2020,the entropy mutation progression method is adopted to calculate the manufacturing innovation driving force index of China,and reveal its spatial-temporal distribution pattern.Secondly,we use the exploratory spatial data analysis method to study the spatial correlation of China’s manufacturing innovation driving force;The spatial econometric model is used to further analyze the spatial agglomeration characteristics and spatial spillover effects of China’s manufacturing innovation driving force.Finally,from the level of government and manufacturing industry,it gives the improvement of manufacturing innovation driving force.The research finds that the manufacturing innovation driving force is gradually rising in time sequence,but the gap between different regions is still expanding,and there is a significant "Matthew effect";The manufacturing innovation driving force has significant spatial agglomeration characteristics and positive spatial spillover effect in space,and neighboring provinces with strong driving force benefit from each other.The research on the connotation and measurement of manufacturing innovation driving force in this paper will help to sort out the current development situation of China’s manufacturing innovation driving force,analyze the bottlenecks and obstacles encountered in the current development of manufacturing industry,which not only enriches the relevant research on innovation-driven theory,but also provides theoretical basis and practical reference for cultivating and improving the manufacturing innovation driving force.At the same time,this paper analyzes the spatial differences and influencing factors of the manufacturing innovation driving force with the spatial econometric analysis method,and identifies the reasons for the spatial differences of it,which is conducive to the government timely grasping the innovation development status of the manufacturing industry in different regions,allocating innovation resources and formulating policies from the national level,and realizing the regional coordinated development of the manufacturing industry.
