The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly put forward "optimizing the environment for the development of private enterprises" and"promoting the growth of private economy".The private sector has played an important role in consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation and making solid progress in achieving common prosperity. It is the most active and creative market player. At the same time,Tsinghua University Dean Bai also believes that boosting the confidence of private entrepreneurs will help achieve Chinese-style modernization. In our country, the family business is relatively high in the private enterprise, but also plays an important role in the contribution of tax revenue, steady employment, technological innovation and so on.In the early stage, the emotional value and resource support within the family are more conducive for the start-up to occupy the market. However,in the middle and late stage of the development of the enterprise, how to coordinate the conflicts of interest between the family and internal and external interests becomes an urgent problem to be solved. For the following reasons:smoothing the succession process, solving the enterprise development crisis, high uncertainty in the external environment, and strategic reform, the founders may take measures to "de-familization" or "pan-family",such as introducing external professional managers,so as to make the family business more professional, institutionalized and modern. The influence of professional managers’ business decisions on enterprise development strategies and strategic changes has become a hot topic worth discussing in the field of family business research. In recent years, digital transformation has become one of the important strategies of enterprises. For enterprises, there are many positive effects of digitalization, such as improving operation efficiency, reducing transaction costs, optimizing customer experience, and increasing market share. Moreover, the term "digital economy" also appears in national policy documents for many times. The 19th National Congress proposed to promote the deep integration of the Internet, big data, artificial intelligence and the real economy to build a digital China. The Ministry of Finance adopted the central financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises digital transformation pilot work circular.Under the guidance of national policies, many family enterprises realize the importance and urgency of digital upgrading. However, digital transformation is not easy.It is a long battle, which requires scientific guidance from professionals and systematic implementation plans.According to the 2019 Harvard Business Review, there are common problems in the process of digital transformation, such as missing strategic positioning, pitfalls in tools, talent, and organizational models, and a mismatch between long-term investment and short-term reporting. Therefore, based on the above background,second-generation succession and digital transformation,de-familization and digital transformation have become the new directions that family enterprises are actively exploring. At present, there are few literatures on the impact of de-familization on digital transformation, how to promote digital transformation by de-familization,or the conditions that professional managers should have.Based on the principal-agent theory, organizational change theory and contingency theory, this paper expounds the definition of family business,de-familization and digital transformation, and summarizes the existing literature on the impact of de-familization,the impact of digital transformation and the relationship between them.Single case study method, comparative analysis method, literature research method and text analysis method are adopted.Taking YTO Express, which has the dual characteristics of de-familization and digital transformation,as the study case.Besides, this paper summarizes the development history, current situation and industry status of the company, and details the progressive process of de-familization.Taking Pan Shuimiao,a professional manager,as the node, this paper studies YTO Express under the background of intensifying industry competition. How the progressive de-familization promotes the digital transformation of enterprises step by step, mainly through the existing digital achievements from 2016 to 2021,the change of digitalization degree, the proportion of R&D investment,R&D cost input, the conversion rate of research results, researchers and other conditions to carry out in-depth analysis. In addition,by analyzing the impact of digital transformation on enterprise cost, profit and income,it proves that its digital transformation has positive effect and is relatively successful, and further supports the positive effect of de-familization on digital transformation to a certain extent. Finally, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Professional managers with professional skills can contribute to the digital transformation of family enterprises to some extent.(2)Further speaking, from the changes in enterprise investment and financing decisions, the degree of enterprise digital transformation, the number of patents and the conversion rate of scientific and technological achievements,it can be seen that a series of decision changes in the process of de-familization can promote the digital transformation of family enterprises.(3)Successful digital transformation is conducive to increasing income, reducing costs, improving efficiency and improving service quality. Therefore, family enterprises should attach importance to digitalization and digitalization. It is hoped that the foregoing analysis can offer a useful idea and provide reference and inspiration for family enterprises that also want to carry out or are carrying out digital transformation, and enrich the research on the topic of de-familization and digital transformation.
