The synergetic development of manufacturing and producer services is an important way to enhance the core competitiveness of the industry.The development of China’s manufacturing industry has long relied on extensive methods of high input and high consumption.Obviously,this method is unsustainable under the new competitive situation with value-added as the main appeal.The producer service industry has the characteristics of increasing the added value of the manufacturing industry and driving the transformation of manufacturing products to knowledge-intensive and technology-intensive.So,will the effective integration of China’s manufacturing industry and the value chain of producer services help it to speed up technological innovation and get rid of the risk of being "locked" in the global low-end value chain? The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19 th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China put forward new goals and new requirements for the in-depth integration.It provides important policy guidelines for synergetic development of industry and modern service industry,enhancing core competitiveness and achieving high-quality development.Therefore,it is of greater practical significance to play the role of the adhesive of producer service industry,promoting the synergetic development of the manufacturing industry and the producer service industry,and accelerating the improvement of the technological innovation capability of the manufacturing industry,which is related to the success of China’s transformation of its development mode key.The paper starts from the mechanism of synergetic development of the manufacturing industry and the producer service industry to enhance the technological innovation capability of the manufacturing industry.According to the intensity type,the manufacturing industry is divided into labor-intensive industry,capital-intensive industry and technology-intensive industry,and on the basis of this,the paper takes 27 sub-sectors of China’s manufacturing industry from 2006 to 2020 as a research samples,and it uses gray GM(1,N)system model and global entropy method measure the level of synergetic development of manufacturing and producer services,the technological innovation capability of manufacturing industry,respectively.In addition,the paper also analyzes the dynamic trends of the above two in the entire manufacturing industry and different intensive industries.In this,the paper uses positive externality of industrial synergy as a breakthrough point,and takes scale effect,technology spillover effect and talent flow effect as transmission media.Meanwhile,the paper further adopts the two-way fixed effect model and the mediation effect model to empirically test the influence and mechanism of the synergetic development of manufacturing and producer services on technological innovation capability of the manufacturing industry.According to the research findings,the synergetic development of manufacturing and producer services has significantly improved the industrial technological innovation capability,and this result is still stable after replacing explained variables,testing by time periods and using instrumental variables to overcome endogeneity.Secondly,the heterogeneity test shows that the positive effect of synergistic development of the manufacturing and the producer services on industrial technological innovation capability shows a decreasing tend in order according the technology-intensive industry,the labor-intensive industry and the capital-intensive industry.Thirdly,the mechanism test shows that the technology spillover effect and the talent flow effect are the key transmission mechanisms for synergetic development of the two industries to improve the technological innovation capability of the manufacturing industry,however,the positive effect of industry scale effect has not passed the significance test.In addition,the effect of technology spillovers on the technological innovation capability of the industry is obviously better than that of talent flow. |
