In the project management work of construction enterprises, the cost control of construction projects is the part that needs to be paid attention to.However,in the building construction stage, building construction projects are characterized by too many processes, complex costs and cumbersome processes, therefore, many building construction units cost control management systems lack effectiveness. At present, building construction units usually do not combine the cost factor with the progress factor. The separate control of cost and progress is often one-sided and not timely, which makes it difficult to achieve the purpose of dynamic assessment and is very likely to bring negative impact on the overall effectiveness of the enterprise. In the cost control system during the construction period, the cost and schedule elements are equally important and closely related,so controlling cost and schedule as a whole will play a vital role in the successful completion of project objectives and will have a significant impact on the economic interests of the business. In order to achieve cost savings in the construction process for building construction companies and improve the whole efficiency of the company, they need to achieve effective cost control. This thesis applies the Earned Value Method to construction project cost control, and strives to achieve synchronous control of project costs and schedules,as well as accurate assessment of construction projects, and finally achieve effective control of construction project costs. The thesis focuses on BF Construction’s FL residential project, through a review of domestic and international literature and field research.A systematic measurement and in-depth analysis of the cost control of BF Construction’s residential project has been carried out to summarize the important elements that have an impact on this residential project.Based on the Earned Value Method, the thesis analyses the actual situation of cost control in BF Construction’s residential projects and finds that the enterprise has problems in the management of residential projects in terms of unclear definition of managers’ authority and responsibility, limited role of cost control system and disconnection between cost control and schedule control.By applying the principles and methods of cost control in construction projects, the thesis has revealed that the Earned Value Method can provide a focused solution to the issues that exist in cost control for BF Construction’ s residential projects. Therefore, the thesis applies the Earned Value Method to the completed site A of BF Construction’s FL residential project.Firstly,it decomposes the costs and schedules in the FL residential project, then establishes the earned value parameters, identifies the important factors affecting cost control during the construction phase of the project, analyses the causes of deviations and proposes improvement measures, and finally compares the cost control effects obtained before and after the introduction of the Earned Value Method. This thesis finds that the introduction of the Earned Value Method in BF Construction’s residential projects can reduce controllable costs and lead to good control of project costs in the company’s residential projects therefore achieving cost savings and ultimately enabling BF Construction to expand its profitability and enhance its core competitiveness in the construction market.
