| Pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is China’s "sunrise industry",whose development is closely related to people’s life quality and health.Meanwhile,as one of the resource-intensive and knowledge-intensive high-tech industries,pharmaceutical manufacturing industry innovation has become an important driving force for the high-quality development of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.However,At present,some problems are existing in China’s pharmaceutical manufacturing industry,such as backward technology,single product and weak foundation,which seriously hinder its development.The improvement of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry innovation ability helps to solve the current problems existing in the industry,so as to improve the production efficiency of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and achieve high-quality development.In addition,there is a big gap between Chinese pharmaceutical manufacturing industry innovation ability and foreign pharmaceutical manufacturing industry innovation ability,so improving the innovation ability of Chinese pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is also an effective way to enhance the international competitiveness of Chinese pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.Therefore,further studying Chinese pharmaceutical manufacturing industry innovation efficiency,discussing factors affecting innovation efficiency and putting forward targeted measures play a key role in promoting the high-quality development of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and improving economic development.Meanwhile,with the rapid development of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry,a certain number of pharmaceutical industry agglomeration areas have been formed in China.Industrial agglomeration has the characteristics of "scale economy",which can enhance enterprise competition and attracting professional talents,then through improving the efficiency of pharmaceutical manufacturing innovation to further promote regional economic development.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to study the impact of pharmaceutical manufacturing innovation efficiency on economic development from the perspective of industrial agglomeration.In view of this,based on panel data from 2006 to 2019 and based on the analysis of existing studies,this thesis first uses location entropy to measure the agglomeration level of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in various regions of China,Secondly,three-stage DEA and Malmquist index were used to measure the innovation efficiency of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in different regions of China from static and dynamic perspectives.Finally,agglomeration level is taken as an intermediary variable to study the promoting effect between innovation efficiency and economic development.Finally,the mediating effect and threshold effect of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry agglomeration level on innovation efficiency and economic development are studied.The research conclusions are as follows:(1)The agglomeration level of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in China presents a downward trend.From the perspective of space,northeast China has the most obvious decline and the largest fluctuation.The western region has the lowest fluctuation and the lowest concentration level.The central region has a small gap,and the concentration level of most provinces is growing.The eastern region as a whole is higher than the other three regions.(2)The comprehensive technical efficiency value of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in all regions of China is not high as a whole but presents a rising trend,and scale inefficiency is an important reason affecting the comprehensive technical inefficiency.Scale efficiency is increasing on the whole,indicating a relating low scale of pharmaceutical manufacturing investment in all provinces and cities and that it is necessary to increase the scale of investment.The pure technical efficiency is wholly close to the effective state,indicating that the input resources are well used.(3)The agglomeration of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry has a partial mediating effect between innovation efficiency and economic development,and innovation efficiency still has a significant promoting effect on economic development after removing the mediating variables.(4)The agglomeration level of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry has a significant double threshold effect.When the agglomeration level is low,innovation efficiency plays a significant role in promoting economic development.When the level of agglomeration increases moderately,innovation efficiency plays an insignificant role in promoting economic development because of the crowding effect.When the level of agglomeration continues to rise,the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry has a mature talent market,industrial chain and advanced technology level,and the degree of cooperation between enterprises deepens.At this time,innovation plays a significant role in promoting economic development.Based on the above conclusions,this thesis puts forward the following suggestions:(1)Improve the utilization rate of production factors and increase the input scale moderately.(2)Improve technological innovation and enterprise management capabilities,guide the combination of enterprises,universities and research institutes.(3)Optimize the allocation of talents,improve the education system and train high-quality talents.(4)Improve infrastructure to reduce population and brain drain.(5)Create a good environment for innovation,reduce the pressure on enterprises to survive and stimulate innovation motivation.(6)Improve resource utilization and protect the environment to promote sustainable development of the industry.(7)Reasonably carry out innovation activities according to the level of agglomeration of local enterprises. |
