| Along with the accelerating aging process in China, the Chinese government has been paying more and more attention to the development of the elderly care business and industry, and actively encourages various regions to explore and develop new elderly care models to meet the growing needs of the elderly for a better life.At the same time, along with the steady promotion of rural revitalization strategy and the gradual acceleration of urban-rural integration process, the rural residence and recreation model has started to appear in various parts of China, which has attracted the attention of the government and academic circles. As a new type of retirement, rural residence and recreation mainly refers to the mode in which the urban elderly mainly pursue physical and mental health and go to the rural areas with obvious rural comfort for a longer period of time for health and retirement activities. Its characteristic is to take advantage of the unique rural comfort environment to attract the elderly with good financial status to come to live and recuperate at a relatively low cost. This model can accelerate the integration and exchange of urban and rural economy and culture, promote the income of farmers and the development of village collective economy,as well as share the worries of the local government, and more importantly, provide a high quality recreation experience for the elderly, which helps the physical and mental health of the recreation travelers and live out the value and meaning of the elderly.Based on the strategic background of rural revitalization in China, this study uses participant observation and in-depth interviews to visit a typical village in Henan Province,TS Village, and conducts in-depth interviews with the elderly people who have visited the village to live and recuperate.--The study then analyzed the practice patterns and problems of the TS village’s residential recreation along the lines of the research approach of the innovation path. The study found that the success of the TS village’s residence and recreation model was not accidental, but was due to the village’s rich amenities, unique natural conditions and rich cultural resources,as well as the village’s good industrial base and high level of governance. The village has proved to be effective in meeting the needs of the elderly for high-level retirement, promoting the integrated development of recreational tourism, creating a social atmosphere of respect for the elderly and filial piety, promoting the improvement of social governance mechanisms, and driving the progress of the local ageing cause. However, this rural residence and recreation model is currently facing five development limits in practice, specifically: weak public service capacity, insufficient market competitiveness, insufficient system development capacity, lack of information management platform, and old age has not yet been realized. The main reasons for this are the lack of systematic development planning in villages, the limited ability of villages to mobilize resources, the inadequate construction of recreation systems, the weak ability of development agents to accept new technologies and the lack of advanced concepts in recreation services. In view of the existing development limits, the paper suggests three directions of model innovation: creating a livable living environment based on the revitalization of the rural areas, condensing the characteristics of local recreation and health through multifaceted synergy, and developing individual services by integrating the concept of comprehensive health. |
