Research On The Impact Of The Institutional Quality Of The Destination Country On The Technological Complexity Of My Country's Export

Reform and opening up are the foundation for China’s rapid economic development.The optimization of the institutional environment of trading partner countries has also provided a good external market for China’s export trade,which can reduce the entry cost of Chinese enterprises and continuously expand the overall trade scale.However,market competition has never stopped,the key to test a country’s economic development level and core competitiveness lies in the technological content of export products.So in order to improve the foreign trade in our country the problem of "big but not strong",optimize the structure of trade in goods,improve export technical complexity,become a frontier topic for this class was China rely on its "export-oriented" strategy achieved victory stage in foreign trade,but now the urgent need to trading power to trade power transformation,It is particularly crucial to give full play to the positive influence of the institutional quality of the destination country on China’s export commodity trade structure.Under the background of increasing trade between China and OECD countries,how to promote the improvement of the quality of China’s export trade becomes more important.Therefore,this paper uses SITC data to measure the technological complexity of China’s export to 38 OECD countries from 2006 to 2020.Two-way fixed effect regression,robustness test,causality step-to-step regression and Sobel test are used to empirically test the influence and path of OECD countries’ overall institutional environment indicators and six classification indicators on China’s export technology complexity.It is found that,on the whole,the institutional quality of destination country has a positive effect on the complexity of China’s export technology.Secondly,the six classification indicators of destination country: discourse power and accountability,degree of political stability,government effectiveness,quality of supervision,degree of perfection of laws and rules,and degree of corruption control can all promote the improvement of China’s export technology complexity.Finally,the influence of institutional quality of destination country on the technology complexity of China’s export is mainly realized by the size of bilateral trade between the trading partner country and China,that is,institutional quality of destination country has a positive influence on the technology complexity of China’s export,and bilateral trade scale becomes the path of influence.
