With the continuous development of international trade,Chinese automobile enterprises are also looking for ways to participate in all links of the global value chain and actively explore the path of value chain upgrading.However,most Chinese enterprises are in the middle and lower reaches of the global value chain,mainly engaged in parts assembly and vehicle manufacturing,with low added value and strong substitutability.In addition,previous studies on industrial competitiveness by scholars were mostly limited to domestic perspectives,focusing on industrial clusters or key joint ventures between provinces and cities,and there were few studies on exploring the improvement of global value chain.Therefore,this paper mainly measures the international competitiveness of China’s auto industry to study the path to enhance the international competitiveness of China’s auto industry.First of all,this paper combs the literature and research on global value chain,international competitiveness and competitiveness promotion by domestic and foreign scholars,then it analyzes the overall status quo of China’s automobile industry and all links of the value chain,and finds that China’s automobile industry has low innovation investment ratio,upstream and downstream industries dispersed,and key components depend on foreign imports.Secondly,on the basis of following the establishment standards and basis of indicators and combining with the current development trend of the international automobile industry,this paper selects four groups of first-level indicators and twelve second-level indicators from the research and development,production,sales and sustainable aspects of the global value chain to establish the evaluation system of the international competitiveness of the automobile industry.Each index is given weight and analyzed by means of variation coefficient method and grey correlation analysis.In order to understand the overall competitiveness of China’s automobile industry value chain and the development trend of all links in the past decade,as well as the key links and specific factors affecting the international competitiveness of China’s automobile industry,empirical study Ⅰ selects the value chain data from 2010 to 2020 to conduct a longitudinal analysis on the comprehensive competitiveness of China’s automobile industry;In empirical study Ⅱ,this paper selects the data from 2018 to 2019 to carry out a horizontal comparison of the industrial competitiveness of the five major countries in the world.Finally,based on the current situation of China’s automobile industry and the results of empirical research,the path selection of competitiveness improvement is obtained: In the upper part of the value chain,the government can accelerate the process of software and hardware research and development at the top by increasing the investment of special research and development funds.Meanwhile,it can strengthen the patent research and development of cross-field enterprises,improve the construction of related patent infrastructure,and finally strengthen the cooperation between upstream and downstream enterprises to enhance the trade competitiveness index.In the middle part of the value chain,China should continue to deepen the supply-side reform of the automobile industry,optimize the industrial employment structure,coordinate the competitive advantages of the industrial chain,improve the industrial added value index,strengthen the construction of basic platforms,and improve the production efficiency of enterprises.In downstream value chain link,sales on the government and the enterprise should implement the strategy of focus areas talents,optimizing the industry structure of personnel training,strengthening the construction of overseas marketing network,promoting national brand influence,sustainable in our country should continue to strengthen the electrification transformation,promotion of new energy market share,at the same time,strictly regulate the industry standard for carbon emissions,We will strengthen the development of supporting infrastructure for new energy.
