Research On The Development Strategy Of Weifang Port Under The Background Of Shandong Port Integration Reform

Located in the Bohai Sea,the central Shandong Peninsula,the south bank of Laizhou Bay,Weifang Port is now a national-level open seaport with a coastline of 140 kilometers.Three port areas are included in the master plan of Weifang Port,namely,West Port Area,Mid Port Area,and East Port Area.Supported by Weifang Binhai Economic and Technological Development Zone,the Mid Port Area becomes a port complex for cargo transportation mainly including containers,dry bulk,general cargo,liquid bulk cargo,and roll-on and roll-off transportation as well as raw materials and products of portside industry.Weifang has taken the lead in the integration reform of port in Shandong province since 2018,actively responding to the spirit of the relevant meeting of the provincial government.After that,Weifang Port has been entrusted with greater significance: a hub port for domestic containers,ro-ro ship s of passengers and goods,and sea-river joint transportation;and a demonstration port for city-industry integration.However,Weifang Port still faces tough challenges in long-term development due to its delayed start and weak infrastructure,and the fierce competition it faces.The purpose of this paper is to formulate a developmental strategy for the Shandong Port,Weifang Port to grasp potential opportunities by means of research on the market competition and its characteristics,analyzing its current market position and advantages and disadvantages.According to the characteristics of academic paper,this paper combines empirical analysis with a theoretical basis and expounds on the related theories of strategic management.The approaches to be adopted are survey investigation,data analysis,literature collection,comparative analysis.Based on the strategic orientation and actual condition of Weifang Port,theories of the PEST Analyzing Model and Five-Forces Model are used to analyze the exterior and internal market environment of this company.Then,the strategic planning for it at the present stage comes up with feasible measures,Determine the development strategy suitable for the current development of enterprises,namely,the industry-city integration development strategy,modern logistics development strategy and smart and green development strategy,indicating the developmental tendency for bottom-level port companies in the integration reform of port.The findings of this study may also be referential for other similar companies.
