Construction companies is a kind of project-driven organization,and the core of management in these companies lies in producing value through project management.Project management ability is closely connected with the competitiveness of construction companies.Amid fierce market competition,improving project management ability serves as the key to the companies with an attempt to gain a foothold in the market.As a small and medium sized company,DH construction company lacks capital,technological strength and experience in managing projects.What’s worse,its project management ability is limited.All these factors have impeded the company’s further development.Against the backdrop of sluggish industry,DH company is in urgent need to improve its project management ability and to enhance its competitiveness so as to achieve healthy and sustained development.Based on the study of literature at home and abroad,the thesis has given a clear explanation of project management ability,evaluation content and capability level.Besides,analytic hierarchy process(AHP)and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation(FCE)have been used to conduct modeling analysis.First of all,a basic introduction of DH company has been given.The project management situation in the company has been stated from the perspectives of project management framework and personnel responsibility.After that,problems in the project management of DH company have been explored from the perspectives of three elements in project management,risk management and dynamic development.Next,an evaluation index system of project management ability has been built.The thesis has chosen progress management,quality management,cost management and risk handling,and has set project management ability as the first index and dynamic development as the second index.By doing this,the thesis has built an evaluation index system involving twenty indexes.AHP has been used to obtain the weight of each index and FCE,and then indexes that have great influence on project management ability of DH company have been analyzed.Finally,based on the evaluation results,targeted strategic suggestions have been offered to improve the project management capacity of DH construction company.The comprehensive evaluation score of the project management ability of DH company is 5.78,a figure between standardized level and management level,still far from optimization level.It has also been found that the impacts of quality management,progress management and cost management on project management ability of the company is basically the same,while dynamic development ability has the greatest influence.This has indicated that the company should focus on the improvement of dynamic development ability and risk handling ability once sound quality system,progress system and cost system have been built.Based on these,some strategic suggestions have been given—improving quality management and planning system,setting up inter-department coordinating mechanism,building dynamic cost management system,forming classified security risk management systems and enhancing the company’s innovation capacity and its capacity to learn and absorb.
