Marx’s thought of natural productivity is the reality of sustainable utilization of natural forces in the production practice of human society. The establishment of capitalist mode of production, the application of science and technology in the production process, the development of classical political economy and the formation of classical philosophical view of nature provide the background and theoretical basis for the formation of Marx’s thought of natural productivity. The thought of natural productive forces criticizes the conquest, control and destruction of natural forces by capitalist mode of production, which brings about ecological environment problems and human survival problems, and clarifies that it is necessary to rationally utilize and protect natural productive forces in order to realize the reconciliation between man and nature, which provides important theoretical guidance and direction for the current practice of ecological civilization construction in China. Therefore, this paper makes a comprehensive research on Marx’s natural productivity thought from the aspects of its formation, main content and contemporary value. The article consists of four parts:The first part is introduction.Firstly, the research background and significance of this paper are discussed.Secondly, combing the domestic and foreign research related to the theme of this paper, briefly summarizing and evaluating the research status and achievements. Finally, this paper clarifies the key contents of this study, combs the research ideas and methods, and discusses the innovations of this study. The second part is the background and theoretical basis of the times.First, based on Marx’s perspective of the times, this paper expounds the background of the formation of the thought of natural productivity: the progress of science and technology has promoted the all-round development of productive forces, and the use of large machines in nature has become more frequent, resulting in the possession of natural forces by capitalists, causing extensive destruction of natural forces and aggravating ecological crisis.Second, explain Marx’s view of nature and the theoretical origin of productivity thought.Firstly,it discusses the criticism and inheritance of Marx’s view of nature from predecessors, and lists the key contents of Marx’s view of nature.Secondly,it points out the subordinate relationship between natural productivity and productivity, and then expounds Marx’s productivity thought. The third part is the main content of Marx’s thought of natural productivity.Firstly, the connotation of natural productivity is discussed in detail, including the definition of natural force, natural productivity, its characteristics, position and function, and the relationship with social productivity. At the same time, the essence of natural productivity is changed by natural forces in the process of labor. The fourth part, the contemporary significance of Marx’s thought of natural productivity. In theory,it provides ideological enlightenment for the idea of harmonious coexistence between man and nature, and lays a theoretical foundation for the idea that protecting the environment means protecting productive forces and improving the environment means developing productive forces. In practice,it provides an effective realistic path for the rational use and protection of natural productive forces and the reconciliation of the relationship between man and nature under the condition of socialist market economy.
